Tonight’s UFC 273 event was co-headlined by a bantamweight title fight rematch between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan. Sterling (21-3 MMA) was returning to action for the first time since capturing the bantamweight title at UFC 259. ‘Funkmaster’ was awarded the championship after ‘No Mercy’ was disqualified for throwing an illegal knee in their first fight.

Tonight’s UFC 273 event featured a highly anticipated welterweight bout between Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns. Chimaev (11-0 MMA) was looking to improve his Octagon record to 5-0 with a win over ‘Durinho’ this evening. ‘The Wolf’ was coming off a dominant first round submission victory over Li Jingliang in his most previous effort at UFC 267 (see that here).

Former UFC strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk is set to make her highly anticipated Octagon return in a rematch with Weili Zhang. That news comes courtesy of ESPN, who reported that Jedrzejczyk (16-4 MMA) and Zhang (21-3 MMA) have verbally agreed to throw down at June’s UFC 275 event in Singapore.

The Octagon returns to Jacksonville for tonight’s UFC 273 event, a twelve-bout fight card headlined by Alex Volkanovski vs. The Korean Zombie. Volkanovski (23-1 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since defeating Brian Ortega at September’s UFC 266 event. ‘The Great’ is currently sporting a twenty-fight winning streak, which includes two consecutive defenses of his featherweight title.

Chael Sonnen has given his stamp of approval for the proposed Logan Paul-Paddy Pimblett UFC fight. Over the last few years, Logan Paul has openly pondered a move into MMA. The 27-year-old was a former high school and collegiate wrestler. Promotions such as Bellator have said they have an interest in the YouTuber. However, Paul, alongside his brother, has shown far more interest in competing under the UFC banner.

UFC president Dana White has given his first public thoughts on Jorge Masvidal assaulting Colby Covington. Last month in the main event of UFC 272, ‘Chaos’ and ‘Gamebred’ collided. The build-up to the fight was intense, as both men traded many personal insults. However, much of the raw vitriol came from Covington’s end, who called Masvidal a bad father and discussed his children.

Vinc Pichel wanted to fight Mark Madsen for a few reasons. Pichel and Madsen were booked to fight one another at UFC 271 in February, but the wrestling ace was forced out of the bout. Pichel was then offered a fight against Nasrat Haqparast but ultimately decided to turn that down as he had his sights firmly set on Madsen.

Dana White has revealed who could be next for Khamzat Chimaev if he wins at UFC 273 this weekend. If ‘Borz’ is able to defeat Gilbert Burns, he’ll face Colby Covington next. Khamzat Chimaev is set for the biggest test of his career on Saturday at UFC 273. Back for the first time since his destructive win over Li Jingliang at UFC 267, the welterweight is facing Gilbert Burns. The former UFC welterweight title challenger, Burns (20-4 MMA), is coming off a win over Stephen Thompson last July.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik (12-3 MMA) was set to match-up with Marcin Tybura (22-7 MMA) at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
