Kevin Holland announces he's returning at UFC 279 against Daniel Rodriguez

Kevin Holland will be returning at UFC 279 on September 10. UFC president Dana White said he was looking to add some big fights to the pay-per-view card in Las Vegas and he has done just that. After adding Tony Ferguson vs. Li Jingliang at welterweight, Holland took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce he will be facing Daniel Rodriguez at UFC 279.

Luke Rockhold has aired some of the reasons he’s felt animosity towards UFC president, Dana White. The former Strikeforce and UFC middleweight champion is recently retired from the sport having given a memorable performance despite losing to Paulo Costa at UFC 278 last weekend.

Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has blasted Jake Paul. At UFC 278 last Saturday night in Salt Lake City, the 37-year-old returned to action. The co-main event against Paulo Costa was Rockhold’s first fight since 2019. Despite the layoff, the former UFC champion looked like he hadn’t missed a beat.

UFC commentator Daniel Cormier doesn’t believe Leon Edwards’s knockout against Kamaru Usman was a fluke. In the main event of UFC 278 last Saturday night in Salt Lake City, ‘Rocky’ faced ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’. The matchup was a rematch of their previous outing in 2015 on UFC on Fox 17. In their first matchup, Usman scored a unanimous decision victory.

Khabib Nurmagomedov says Eagle FC will never be partnered with any betting sites. With sports betting being legalized throughout the States and in Canada, commercials and ads featuring betting have become more popular. Along with that, the UFC has partnered with DraftKings while the other major sports all have gambling partnerships, but Eagle FC will be much different as Nurmagomedov believes sports betting is bad.

Ben Askren doesn’t think Jorge Masvidal should be fighting for UFC gold his next time out. After Edwards knocked out Kamaru Usman at UFC 278 to become the new welterweight champ, Masvidal was quick to campaign for the fight. Of course, the two have a history with the three-piece and a soda incident in London as well as being booked to face one another at UFC 269.

John Dodson has accomplished a lot in his career but there are some things that stick out to him more than others. Dodson won TUF 14 as he knocked out TJ Dillashaw and went on to start out his UFC career 3-0 which led to a flyweight title fight against Demetrious Johnson. Although he never touched UFC gold, Dodson fought so many future champions which he says is a career highlight that he always fought the best of the best.

Jorge Masvidal has ripped Daniel Cormier after the former light heavyweight and heavyweight champ said Leon Edwards should refuse to fight him. After Edwards scored a stunning fifth-round KO win over Kamaru Usman to become the new champ, Masvidal was vocal in wanting the fight. It would be a massive fight given their history but Cormier advised Edwards to not take the fight.

Dan Hooker vs Claudio Puelles and Brad Riddell vs Renato Moicano have been added to the UFC 281 card, according to MMA Fighting. UFC 281 is set to take place on November 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York City with the main event seeing Israel Adesanya defend his UFC middleweight title against Alex Pereira. It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, then, that many of Adesanya’s teammates are set to appear on the card – including the aforementioned Dan Hooker and Brad Riddell.

At UFC 278, Leon Edwards shocked the mixed martial arts world by knocking Kamaru Usman out to become the new UFC welterweight champion. By doing so, he obviously put a big target on his back – and plenty of fighters are gearing up to try and get a crack at ‘Rocky’ and the 170-pound strap.

Khamzat Chimaev has fought at both welterweight and middleweight in the UFC and Henry Cejudo believes the Swede should return to 185lbs after UFC 279. Chimaev is set to face Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 279, in what many thought would secure ‘Borz’ a welterweight title fight. However, with Kamaru Usman losing the belt to Leon Edwards and the two likely having a trilogy, Cejudo believes Chimaev should try fighting at middleweight and pursuing the title at 185lbs.
