Tonight’s UFC on ESPN 8 co-main event features a key strawweight battle as former title challenger Claudia Gadelha takes on surging division contender Angela Hill. Gadelha (17-4 MMA) was most recently seen in action at July’s UFC 239 event, where she scored a unanimous decision victory over Randa Markos. The Brazilian standout has gone 4-2 over her past six Octagon appearance overall.

Former lightweight contender Edson Barboza made his featherweight debut against Hawaiian standout Dan Ige at tonight’s UFC on ESPN 8. Barboza (20-8 MMA) entered tonight’s contest looking to rebound, this after suffering back-to-back losses to Paul Felder and Justin Gaethje respectively. The Brazilian’s most previous win had come back in December of 2018 when he TKO’d Dan Hooker.
Kevin Randleman inducted into UFC Hall of Fame

UFC heavyweight legend Kevin Randleman is the latest member of the UFC Hall of Fame, as the promotion announced he will be posthumously inducted. The UFC revealed on Saturday night during the UFC on ESPN broadcast that the late Randleman, who passed away in 2016 at age 44, will be inducted into the pioneer wing of the UFC Hall of Fame. Here’s the organization’s announcement on Twitter about “The Monster” becoming the latest member of the UFC HOF.

Fan favorite Matt Brown returned to the Octagon at tonight’s UFC on ESPN 8 in Jacksonville for a welterweight bout with Miguel Baeza. Brown (22-16 MMA) entered tonight’s fight looking to build off the momentum of his knockout victory over Ben Saunders which occurred at December’s UFC 245 event. That win had marked Brown’s second in a row, as he had previously defeated Diego Sanchez by way of knockout in November of 2017.
Jon Jones responds to fan criticism, says he will "kick it up" going forward

UFC light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones says he has “got the message” from fight fans and promises to “kick it up” going forward. ‘Bones’ returned from a one and a half year layoff at UFC 232 in December of 2018, for a rematch with Alexander Gustafsson. Jones would ultimately put the Swede away in round three that night in Los Angeles, thus reclaiming the promotions vacant light heavyweight title.

Tony Ferguson has responded after receiving praise from his longtime rival in Khabib Nurmagomedov. ‘El Cucuy’ and ‘The Eagle’ were slated to collide on April 18. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the promotions reigning lightweight champion was forced to remain in his home country of Russia and thus could not compete. The cancellation marked the fifth time that a proposed bout between Ferguson and Nurmagomedov failed to come to fruition.

Curtis Blaydes believes Stipe Miocic needs to make a decision on whether he is a UFC fighter or a firefighter. Miocic is currently on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic working as a firefighter in Ohio. Yet, due to this, the heavyweight champion has said he won’t fight during the pandemic. He says can’t train and needs to work his firefighting job as the main reason why.

For Sayif Saud, who is Hall’s head coach at Fortis MMA, he says it was tough for Hall to hear the news of the positive test. Urijah Faber has a few reasons why he weighed in on Friday. Although he doesn’t have a fight booked, he surprised everyone when he took the scale on Friday morning to weigh-in. Immediately, it caused confusion as to why he was weighed-in but it was later reported it was due to the fact his fighter, Song Yadong was having visa issues. But, those are now all sorted, and Faber will be in his corner instead of fighting.
