Interesting news came out on Monday when MMA Fighting revealed that former NFL star Greg Hardy was looking to transition to a career in mixed martial arts. Hardy was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the 2010 NFL draft and played for the team as a star defensive end. However, in 2014, Hardy was found guilty of assaulting an ex-girlfriend. According to a report from The Washington Post, “Hardy was found guilty by a North Carolina judge and, following procedure in that state, asked for a jury trial. The case was dismissed when the alleged victim did not appear.”

This past weekend in Manchester, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping stepped into the Octagon to make his first successful title defense against MMA legend Dan Henderson in the main event of UFC 204. Bisping survived an early onslaught from Henderson en route to defending his belt for the first time. In both the first and second rounds, Bisping was dropped with Henderson’s signature ‘H-Bomb’. However throughout the remainder of the fight, he continued to outwork Henderson, and outstrike the MMA legend, landing a significant volume of strikes.

Last Saturday, on the main card of UFC 204, seven-foot Dutch heavyweight Stefan Struve became the first fighter ever to stop Daniel Omielanczuk. He accomplished this feat with a beautiful, second round D’arce choke. With the win, Struve extended his win-streak to two, having levelled Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in just 16 seconds in his second most recent bout. Considering it wasn’t all that long ago that the towering Dutchman was neck deep in a rough 1-3 skid, and battling possibly career-ending heart condition, his current streak has got to feel pretty good.

McGregor, who holds the UFC featherweighttitle, will go up in weight to challenge Alvarez for his UFC lightweight title. The Irishman will get his chance to become a two-weight UFC world champion, and become the first fighter in UFC history to simultaneously hold two division’s titles at the same time. However, Eddie Alvarez is no easy fight for anyone at 155 pounds. UFC commentator Joe Rogan spoke about the matchup during his UFC 204 “Fight Companion” podcast over the weekend.

This past weekend, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping stepped into the Octagon in Manchester, England to defend his middleweight championship against MMA legend Dan Henderson in what was set to be Henderson’s last fight before retiring from MMA. The fight was an extremely competitive one, with Henderson dropping Bisping in both the first and second rounds. Despite that, Bisping poured out an incredible volume of strikes throughout the entire fight, landing an impressive amount of significant strikes from bell to bell.
