In particular, he’s hoping to fight former World Series of Fighting lightweight champion Justin Gaethje, who he considers “the stupidest guy in the division.” Hooker made his callout of Gaethje on a recent episode of Submission Radio. Earlier today, the UFC announced a slew of bouts for UFC on FOX 30, which goes down on July 28 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Though these announcements included news of a Jose Aldo vs. Jeremy Stephens featherweight co-main event, they did not include any news about the card’s main event. According to Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting, however, the promotion’s tentative plan is to top the card with a women’s flyweight title fight between long-absent inaugural champion Nicco Montano, and ferocious challenger Valentina Shevchenko.
UFC adds co-founder Art Davie to UFC Hall of Fame

The newest addition to the contributor win of the UFC Hall of Fame, which honors those who have “made outstanding and historical contributions to the sport outside of active competition,” is UFC co-founder Art Davie. Davie, who created the UFC with the help of Rorion Gracie, will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame during this year’s International Fight Week celebrations, per MMAJunkie. The induction ceremony will stream live on UFC Fight Pass.

Given his incredible dominance in the lightweight division — and the fact that he’s struggled with the scale in the past — many members of the MMA community have wondered how he’d perform in the UFC welterweight division. In the opinion of Colby Covington, who battles Rafael dos Anjos for interim welterweight gold in the co-main event of UFC 225 this June 9, Nurmagomedov would be wise to stay at lightweight. In fact, he thinks Nurmagomedov would be in some real trouble if he moved to welterweight.

Earlier this week, top UFC lightweight contender Kevin Lee appeared on the JRE MMA Show to discuss all the goings on in the world of MMA. One of the topics of conversation was Tony Ferguson, who Lee lost to in an interim title bout in October of 2017. Ferguson was recently supposed to battle Khabib Nurmagomedov for the UFC lightweight title at UFC 223, but was unfortunately forced out of the fight with a freak leg injury just a week ahead of the event. Ferguson then went under the knife to repair this injury, and is currently recovering from surgery.
