While this comment from Cerrone sounds like good news for McGregor, who is one of the best strikers in the sport, the Irishman seems like he’ll be well-prepared in the event that the American is bluffing.

The fight between Masvidal and Diaz for the BMF Championship was certainly a noteworthy occasion, and through the first three rounds it felt like it was living up to the hype in a big way. Alas, courtesy of a doctor’s stoppage due to a Diaz cut, the fight was ended, and many fans believe we were robbed of seeing what would happen in the championship rounds, which is when Diaz tends to come on much stronger.

Cerrone meets McGregor in the main event of UFC 246, which takes place this Saturday, January 18 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight is scheduled for five rounds and will be contested at the welterweight limit of 170lbs.

Both sides seemed interested in the fight but for whatever reasons they could not come to terms.

The upcoming UFC Brasilia card now has a main event, and it’s a good one. According to a report from Brazilian publication Combate, the March 14 card will be topped by a lightweight bout between established contenders Kevin Lee and Charles Oliveira. Kevin Lee will enter this contest with a massive, first-round head kick KO of the formerly undefeated Gregor Gillespie in the rear-view. Prior to this win, Lee experienced back-to-back losses at the hands of Rafael dos Anjos and Al Iaquinta. While he has experienced some setbacks recently, he recently sought a fresh start at the famed Tristar gym in Montreal, Quebec, and if his win over Gillespie is any indication, the move is paying dividends. Lee, who previously competed for the interim lightweight title, is 18-5 overall.

Speaking to ESPN, the official broadcast partner of the UFC, McGregor divulged that he made a hefty $50 million for his October, 2018 loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov. For his imminent scrap with Cowboy, he expects to earn a whopping $80 million, which he says will be the biggest payday of his MMA career.
