Conor McGregor is back in the win column, thanks to a 40-second drubbing of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, and the fight community is already wondering who he’ll fight fight next. While McGregor has plenty of options for his next bout, it’s arguable the most compelling matchup available to him at present is streaking welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal. At this stage, Masvidal has undeniably earned a crack at UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. But with Usman nursing an injury, it’s been suggested that he could meet McGregor in a lucrative fight in the meantime — perhaps even with an interim title on the line.

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya was very impressed with Conor McGregor’s knockout win over Donal Cerrone at UFC 246. “The Last Stylebender” watched UFC 246 from his home in Auckland, New Zealand and had nothing but good things to say about the way McGregor demolished Cerrone. In particular, Adesanya says he was impressed with McGregor’s shoulder strikes near the beginning of the fight that badly hurt Cerrone, leading to a quick finish. Adesanya is one of the most creative strikers in the sport, so that’s quite a compliment for McGregor to hear.

On Saturday, in the main event of UFC 246, Conor McGregor picked up a decisive, first-round victory over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone. This win separated the Irishman from a 2018 submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov, and a 2017 TKO loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the boxing ring. In advance of McGregor’s fight with Cerrone, much was made of his win drought. Yet the man himself thinks that narrative was overblown.

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman was the victim of a Twitter hack over the weekend. On UFC 246 fight night, the champ’s Twitter account was used to tweet out several virulent comments — some of which were directed at Conor McGregor. The hacker also shared some of Usman’s bank information.

UFC president Dana White has claimed that Khabib Nurmagomedov has Conor McGregor-type money — in excess of $50 million. White made the claim the post-fight press conference following UFC 246, which featured McGregor’s triumphant return to the Octagon in the main event as he ran through Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in 40 seconds.

UFC star Conor McGregor has praised Donald Cerrone’s grandmother for being a phenomenal woman after UFC 246. McGregor was able to defeat Cerrone last Saturday night with the sort of emphatic performance that puts him right back into the mix for a title shot — whether it be at welterweight or lightweight. One person who was more than happy to give McGregor props in the aftermath of the fight was Cerrone’s grandmother, who actually went up to “The Notorious” and gave him a hug just seconds after he concluded his Octagon interview with Joe Rogan.

McGregor knocked out Donald Cerrone in the first round in his return to the Octagon at UFC 246. It was McGregor’s first win since November 2016 when he beat Eddie Alvarez. In attendance for the fight were both of Usman and Masvidal, two men that McGregor has been linked to for his next fight.

Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker was expected to return to the cage opposite Jared Cannonier at UFC 248, but was regrettably forced out of the content with personal issues. Speaking to Submission Radio ahead of UFC 246 over the weekend, UFC President Dana White addressed those personal issues. While he didn’t divulge what Whittaker is going through, he praised the former champion for his selflessness and even seemed to get a bit choked up when the subject was broached.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum took to social media to call out Aleksei Oleinik for his return to the Octagon later this year. Oleinik picked up a beautiful submission win by armbar over Maurice Greene on the UFC 246 pay-per-view card. Werdum was watching the event and afterward took to his Twitter to call Oleinik out.

The oddsmakers have released the betting odds for who will be Conor McGregor’s next opponent inside the Octagon, and they may be surprising to you. McGregor defeated Donald Cerrone in the main event of UFC 246 to make a statement in his return to the Octagon after 14 months away. As soon as the fight ended, fighters such as Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman all became viable opponents for McGregor’s next bout. UFC women’s bantamweight star Holly Holm released a statement following her unanimous decision win over Raquel Pennington at UFC 246. Holm was able to pin Pennington against the fence and control her while also outstriking her opponent during their standup exchanges to pick up a clear-cut decision win. Holm previously defeated Pennington via split decision in her UFC debut back at UFC 184 in February 2015.

UFC women’s flyweight prospect Maycee Barber was blasted by veteran Lauren Murphy for taking the mic from Joe Rogan following her loss at UFC 246. Barber lost a lopsided decision to Roxanne Modafferi in what was one of the biggest upsets of all-time in UFC history according to the betting odds. Following the loss, Barber took the mic from Rogan before Modafferi did and spoke to the crowd.
