UFC president Dana White says he’s not very confident Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson will fight this year. Nurmagomedov was expected to battle Ferguson at UFC 249 on April 18 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fight was canceled.

UFC president Dana White said during a Reddit AMA on Wednesday that The Ultimate Fighter reality television show will be returning “soon.” It was assumed by many that The Ultimate Fighter was dead after the show flamed out in recent years, with low television ratings and little support from fans and media. When White introduced the Contender Series, it seemed like a natural progression from TUF, and many thought it was an indication the UFC would be doing away with TUF for good.

Johny Hendricks says the door is still open for a return to the UFC. Hendricks is a former UFC welterweight champion who last fought in 2017 where he suffered a TKO loss to Paulo Costa. He announced his retirement from MMA in June of 2018 but had one bare-knuckle fight after.

Long-time UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre recalled his Octagon debut against Karo Parisyan in 2004, admitting he was paid just $3,000 to show. St-Pierre retired as one of the richest fighters in mixed martial arts history after he headlined numerous blockbuster pay-per-views throughout his 13-year MMA career. Everything he earned inside the cage, plus sponsorships and movie roles along the way, and it’s easy to say why GSP is worth millions today. But while he is set for life now, it wasn’t always that way. Like other young fighters, GSP had to start from the bottom.

Douglas Lima doesn’t believe Michael Page should get a title shot anytime soon. Page is riding a three-fight winning streak since suffering his first loss to Lima at Bellator 221. Since the knockout loss, he beat Richard Kiely, Giovanni Melillo, and Shinsho Anzai by knockout. With “MVP” on a winning streak he has called for a rematch with Lima. Yet, the champion isn’t impressed with the Englishman’s caliber of wins and says he doesn’t deserve a title shot.

Veteran UFC lightweight Michael Johnson is among the new fighters who have been added to the upcoming cards on May 13 and May 16 in Jacksonville, Florida. Two weeks ago, UFC president Dana White revealed the promotion’s plan to go ahead with three cards on May 9, 13, and 16 in Jacksonville. The UFC has been trying for weeks to get its show back on the road despite the coronavirus pandemic, and very soon the Octagon will touch down in sunny Florida. Since the cards were announced, a number of new fights have been trickling out in the media, and now we have some more for both cards.

American Top Team coach Conan Silveira says the reason Amanda Nunes can’t fight at UFC 249 is due to an ankle injury she suffered in training. The UFC women’s featherweight champion Nunes recently withdrew from a scheduled title fight against Felicia Spencer at the newly-revamped UFC 249 card on May 9 in Jacksonville, Florida. The two were previously scheduled for the canceled UFC 250 card set for Sao Paulo, and UFC president Dana White was hoping to re-book the fight as the third title fight on the new, stacked UFC 249 card.

Luke Rockhold seems to have accepted Michael Bisping’s invitation to squash their beef and share a beer one day. At one point, Bisping and Rockhold were two of the most bitter rivals in MMA. The pair went 1-1 across two bouts, with Rockhold winning the first by submission and Bisping winning the second — a short-notice title opportunity — by knockout. In the lead-up to and fallout of these bouts, the pair exchanged tons of trash talk and clearly got under each other’s skin.

Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is taking a hiatus from his MMA career, but it sounds like he’s been putting his skills to use outside the cage. Speaking on a recent episode of Submission Radio, Rockhold shared a harrowing story involving a “zombie-like” woman he suspects was on crystal meth. Rockhold claims the woman accosted him while he was walking a dog and tried to spit on him — a practice that is frowned upon in the best of times, let alone during a pandemic.

Lima, who is the current Bellator welterweight title was moving up in weight to battle Gegard Mousasi for the vacant middleweight strap. Yet, the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic which was disappointing news for Lima.

Kevin Lee did indeed tear his ACL and will be out a minimum of six months. Nearly two weeks ago, Lee came out and revealed he hurt his knee. Yet, he said he wasn’t sure how long he would be out.
