Harry Kettle - August 30, 2023

Earlier this year, Jon Jones returned to the Octagon after three years away and captured the UFC heavyweight championship. Prior to that, though, his last bout came in February 2020 when he defended his light heavyweight title against Dominick Reyes. It was a close, intense bout and in the eyes of many, Reyes did enough to secure the win and the belt.

Lewis Simpson - November 16, 2022

Once touted as the next light heavyweight champion, Reyes finds himself stuck in a rut, having fallen to (12-4) at UFC 281. Reyes was knocked unconscious in viral fashion by Ryan Spann in the first round, which marked his fourth-straight defeat, and third by a highlight-reel knockout.

Chris Taylor - November 12, 2022

Dominick Reyes makes his highly anticipated return to the Octagon at tonight’s UFC 281 event for a bout with Ryan Spann. Reyes (12-4 MMA) decided to take a lengthy hiatus from the sport following his brutal knockout loss to Jiri Prochazka in May of 2021. That setback had marked ‘The Devastator’s’ third in a row, as he was previously knocked out by Jan Blachowicz and outpointed by Jon Jones. Prior to that rough stretch, Dominick had gone a perfect 12-0 which included wins over Chris Weidman, Ovince Saint Preux and Volkan Oezdemir.

WTF! Dominick Reyes reacts to being put deep in the UFC 281 prelims: "It's about disrespect"

Ryan Harkness - October 14, 2022

Dominick Reyes is quickly learning how fast you can go from being a title contender and headliner to hanging off the bottom of the prelims. The light heavyweight fighter came into his title fight against Jon Jones in February 2020 on a twelve fight win streak. And many believe he should have left that fight 13-0 with the 205-pound belt. Instead, he walked away on the losing side of a controversial split decision.

Dominick Reyes claims he's the reason Jon Jones moved up to heavyweight

Cole Shelton - June 13, 2022

Dominick Reyes believes nearly beating Jon Jones at UFC 247 is the reason ‘Bones’ is moving up to heavyweight. Jones edged out a decision over Reyes in a fight that many thought the challenger should’ve won. Yet, the judges gave it to ‘Bones’ and since that fight, he has not fought and is bulking up for a heavyweight move. According to Reyes, there were talks of booking an immediate rematch but Jones backed out and instead wanted to go to heavyweight.

Adam D Martin - October 11, 2021

UFC light heavyweight fighter Dominick Reyes is not planning on a UFC return until 2022, saying “I gotta take care of my brain a little bit.” Reyes is one of the best light heavyweights in the UFC but he is coming off of three straight losses to Jiri Prochazka, Jan Blachowicz, and Jon Jones. The fight against Prochazka, in particular, was a brutal war that left Reyes knocked out cold. It was a very difficult fight for Reyes and he has taken off the past four months since then. In fact, Reyes says that he wants to take even more time off in order to heal his brain from that fight. He recognizes how much damage he took and he wants to make sure he does his comeback right.

Adam D Martin - May 3, 2021

Reyes entered this fight against Prochazka on the heels of back-to-back losses to Jon Jones and Jan Blachowicz, so he badly needed to get a win and get back in the victory column. Unfortunately for Reyes, the fight did not go his way once again as Prochazka battered him all over the Octagon until eventually scoring the finish in the second round. It was another phenomenal performance by Prochazka, who looks to be a serious title contender at 205lbs, while for Reyes it was another tough loss that will drop him out of title contention.
