Johnny Walker shares plans for two-division title reign

Tom Taylor - July 15, 2019

Johnny Walker is closing in on a title fight with UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, but he believes he’s got a bit more work to do before Jones gives him the opportunity. “I still haven’t done much (in the UFC),” Walker told MMA Fighting recently. “But there aren’t many guys who would give me a big challenge. I don’t have to beat a top 5. People talk too much crap, man. People say I don’t have jiu-jitsu, I don’t have wrestling. They say I have to fight a wrestler. The last wrestler I fought lasted five seconds. I’m ready for him and I know I’d be a big challenge. I think he’s afraid to lose to an unknown guy.”

Aljamain Sterling reacts to Urijah Faber title chatter: 'Stop the bullsh*t'

Mike Heck - July 15, 2019

Aljamain Sterling was impressed with Urijah Faber’s quick finish over Ricky Simon at UFC Sacramento on Saturday night, but that doesn’t mean he’s open to letting “The California Kid” take the spot at the top of the bantamweight division he’s worked hard to secure. “Funk Master” solidified his spot as the top contender at 135-pounds with a unanimous decision win over Pedro Munhoz last month at UFC 238 in Chicago. On Monday morning, Sterling decided to let the social media world know his thoughts about the chatter of Faber getting the next shot at Henry Cejudo following Saturday night’s event.

Cody Garbrandt on TJ DIllashaw's EPO use: 'I knew TJ was on that'

Tom Taylor - July 15, 2019

Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt is maintaining that he knew his arch rival TJ Dillashaw was using banned substances. The surprise, Garbrandt says, was not that Dillashaw tested positive, but that it took so long for him to get caught. Garbrandt believes that Dillashaw was able to evade detection because the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) doesn’t adequately test for EPO, the substance he was using.

Germaine de Randamie wanted to set fastest knockout record

Adam D Martin - July 14, 2019

Last weekend at UFC 239, Jorge Masvidal set the record for the fastest knockout in UFC history at five seconds into the first round. Germaine de Randamie wanted that record, and she tried her best to get it at UFC Fight Night 155. Instead of beating Jorge Masdvidal for the fastest knockout in UFC history, de Randamie will have to settle for the consolation prize of tying Ronda Rousey for the fastest knockout in women’s bantamweight history. She finished Aspen Ladd in just 16 seconds in the main event of UFC Sacramento, tying Rousey’s previous record.
