UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington claims the UFC was planning on releasing him before he cut his famous ‘filthy animals’ promo in Brazil. In October 2017, Covington fought Demian Maia in Sao Paulo, Brazil in what was the biggest fight of his career at the time. Covington defeated Maia via decision that night and then went on a verbal tirade during his post-fight interview, calling Brazilians “filthy animals” and saying the country was “a dump.”
TJ Dillashaw shows bulked up physique as he continues MMA training

TJ Dillashaw appears to have put on some serious muscle mass as showcased in a recent Instagram snap. The former two-time bantamweight champion hasn’t fought since January 2019, when he was defeated at the hands of Henry Cejudo in a flyweight bout. The current champion finished him with a shocking 32 second TKO in the first round. In April, Dillashaw was handed a two-year suspension after it was revealed he tested positive for EPO use. As a result, he was stripped of his bantamweight title and has been out of action ever since.
Ben Askren fires back after Mike Perry calls him a “bum”

Former UFC welterweight contender Ben Askren fired back at Mike Perry after “Platinum” called “Funky” a bum, suggesting Perry will one day be homeless. Perry was recently a guest on UFC Unfiltered and called Askren a “bum” while criticizing his performances inside the Octagon. Askren went 1-2 with the UFC with a controversial technical submission win over Robbie Lawler and stoppage losses to Jorge Masvidal and Demian Maia before calling it quits and retiring from the sport.

UFC welterweight superstar Jorge Masvidal admits that an MMA fight against Conor McGregor would be big, but he says a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather would be even bigger. UFC president Dana White said this week that McGregor hopes to fight Masvidal next after he fights Donald Cerrone at UFC 246. On paper, a superfight between Masvidal and McGregor would appear to be the biggest fight the UFC could book at the moment.
Cody Stamann says judges did him wrong, wants UFC to make things right

UFC bantamweight contender Cody Stamann believes the judges did him wrong at UFC Washington, D.C. and now he wants the UFC to make things right. Stamann and Song Yadong fought to a controversial majority draw, with the judges scoring the bout 29-27 Stamann, 28-28 and 28-28. Those score tallies include a one-point deduction to Yadong in the first round for an illegal knee, meaning Stamann would have actually lost a split decision had referee Kevin Mulhall not taken that point away. Instead, he ended up with a draw, though many observers felt Stamann did enough to win.

UFC bantamweight contender Cory Sandhagen was given a rough go this week when his opponent Frankie Edgar was booked for a fight against Chan Sung Jung at UFC South Korea. The No. 3-ranked bantamweight on the UFC roster, Sandhagen is scheduled to fight Edgar at UFC Raleigh in January. However, when Brian Ortega announced he was injured and forced to pull out of his fight against Jung, the UFC called upon Edgar to fill the void. That leaves Sandhagen in a tough predicament of not knowing what’s next for him.

Former UFC women’s title contender Liz Carmouche says she was “pained” by the fashion in which the world’s biggest MMA promotion cut her from its roster. On Friday, news broke that Carmouche had been released by the UFC despite the fact she just fought Valentina Shevchenko for the UFC women’s flyweight title over the summer. Not only that, but Carmouche was in Washington, D.C. with the UFC supporting the troops.

UFC heavyweight Ben Rothwell says he is open to a rematch against Stefan Struve following a controversial TKO win at UFC Washington, D.C. Rothwell won the fight via second-round TKO when he finished Struve with a barrage of strikes against the fence, but the ending to the fight was not without controversy.

UFC heavyweight contender Jairzinho Rozenstruik called out Francis Ngannou once again following his KO win over Alistair Overeem at UFC Washington, D.C., and Ngannou responded to the message. Rozenstruik picked up the biggest win of his MMA career to date when he split open Overeem’s lip with a brutal KO at 4:56 of the fifth round in their main event fight. It’s the latest KO in the history of the UFC heavyweight division, and the victory over Overeem will shoot Rozenstruik into the elite of the UFC heavyweight rankings.

UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem has reacted to the devastating last-second KO loss he suffered to the fists of Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC Washington, D.C. Overeem was in cruise control over Rozenstruik and looked to be well on his way to winning a unanimous decision. But with just four seconds left in the fight, Rozenstruik connected with a gigantic punch that floored Overeem. Referee Big Dan Miragliotta stepped in and waved off the contest and Rozenstruik was declared the winner by KO. It’s the latest knockout in the history of the UFC heavyweight division at 4:56 of round five.

Alistair Overeem suffered a shocking last second knockout loss to Jairzinho Rozenstruik in the headliner of tonight’s UFC Washington event. After seemingly outpointing his opponent for the better part of five rounds, ‘The Reem’ was flatted by a Rozenstruik punch with just four seconds left in the fifth and final round.
