A women’s strawweight bout featuring Mackenzie Dern taking on Randa Markos takes place on tonight’s UFC Vegas 11 main card. Dern (8-1 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since scoring a sensational submission victory over Hannah Cifers this past May. The 27-year-old Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu standout has gone 3-1 since joining the promotional ranks in 2018.

Long-time UFC flyweight and bantamweight contender John Dodson has been officially released by the world’s leading MMA promotion. MMAFighting.com’s Damon Martin was the first to break the news that Dodson has been released by the UFC. Dodson’s manager Ricky Kottenstette provided a comment.

Covington and Woodley are not friends and the fight between them on Saturday will mark an end to their on-again, off-again feud over the last few years. On Friday, both men made the main event of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 11 official when they both weighed in at 171lbs. They will now meet at the UFC Apex in a five-round fight.

The weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 11 took place on Friday and headliners Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley were on point for the main event. In the main event, Covington and Woodley both weighed in at the non-title welterweight limit of 171lbs. Both men appeared to be in fantastic shape ahead of their grudge match in the main event of Saturday night’s card in Las Vegas.

UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier reportedly turned down a fight against Octagon newcomer Michael Chandler out of loyalty to Tony Ferguson. When the UFC announced this week that it signed the former Bellator lightweight champion to a free-agent contract, the signing came with a unique stipulation. UFC president Dana White confirmed that Chandler would be the backup for the UFC 254 main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje. It’s an opportunity rarely given to a newcomer and it shows just how high the UFC is on Chandler.

UFC president Dana White says he is “very excited” about adding former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler to the UFC roster. On Thursday, White announced that the UFC has signed Chandler to a free-agent contract. His first task with the UFC will be to be the backup fighter for the UFC 254 main event between lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and interim champ Justin Gaethje. It was a massive free-agent signing for the UFC as Chandler is widely considered by fans and media to be a top-10 lightweight in all of MMA.

UFC light heavyweight contender Thiago Santos has provided an update to fans after he contracted COVID-19. Santos was set to square off with Glover Teixeira in a vital showdown between two of the division’s top stars on October 3, but due to “Marreta” testing positive for Coronavirus, that date will no longer be possible. It comes just over a month after Teixeira himself tested positive for the virus.

UFC president Dana White says he is not a fan of UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya dancing his way into the Octagon. Adesanya has an elaborate dance routine as he makes his way into the Octagon, with his walkout at UFC 243 when he fought Robert Whittaker being the most memorable. Most UFC fighters just walk into the Octagon when it’s their time to fight, so Adesanya certainly stands out when he does his dance. While some fans and media think it’s fun, White is not a fan of what Adesanya does before he enters into the UFC cage.

Despite dropping his last two fights, former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley believes he is still the best welterweight in the UFC. Woodley takes on long-time rival Colby Covington at UFC Vegas 11 this Saturday night. The former UFC welterweight champ is coming off of two straight losses to Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns where he was shut out on the scorecards. At age 38, some fans and media believe Woodley is on a steep decline in his career. But “The Chosen One” doesn’t want to hear anything about that.

New UFC lightweight contender Michael Chandler has released his first statement since leaving Bellator and signing with the UFC. Chandler is a former three-time Bellator lightweight champion and for years he has been one of the top 155lbers outside of the UFC. On Thursday, UFC president Dana White confirmed the world’s leading MMA promotion has signed Chandler and he has been officially named as the backup for the upcoming UFC 254 lightweight title fight between champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and interim champ Justin Gaethje.
