Ben Askren was on his literal deathbed earlier this year following a severe case of Pneumonia, sparked by a staph infection, and underwent a double lung transplant. Askren lost a large bulk of weight during the medical emergency, and needed to relearn how to walk and other basic motor skills.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz says he was fighting more than merely Cody Garbrandt at UFC 207. Dominick Cruz’s legendary return to UFC bantamweight supremacy came to a dramatic end at the hands of Cody Garbrandt at UFC 207. After reclaiming the UFC bantamweight title over TJ Dillashaw and a dominant performance against three-time rival Urijah Faber, Cruz struggled to deal with Garbrandt’s speed and striking on the Ronda Rousey-headlined card.

Valentina Shevchenko won’t allow herself to get caught up in the mystique of Zhang Weili ahead of UFC 322. Shevchenko is scheduled to put her UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship on the line against Weili, who vacated the women’s strawweight gold. The super fight will be held inside the famous Madison Square Garden arena in New York City on Nov. 15.

Israel Adesanya believes there’s a path for Jack Della Maddalena to give Islam Makhachev problems at UFC 322. Maddalena is scheduled to put the UFC Welterweight Championship at stake against Makhachev inside Madison Square Garden in New York City. The title is scheduled to take place on Nov. 15. Makhachev was the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion, but he vacated the gold in an effort to win a title in a second weight class.

Dana White was quite matter-of-fact when discussing how he would handle contracted UFC combatants who have any intention to cheat amid the recent UFC gambling allegation situation. Isaac Dulgarian has been embroiled in controversy since his submission loss in the UFC last weekend, which raised the eyebrows of many. Dulgarian was a heavy betting favorite heading into the bout, but an abundance of money came in closer to the fight on his opponent Yadier del Valle, with an ample amount of first-round prop bets being placed. During an interview with Jim Rome, White touched on a 1 PM afternoon call from IC 360, who is the betting integrity partner of the UFC. IC 360 mentioned that suspicious betting activity on the fight was happening, which resulted in the UFC reaching out to Dulgarian and his lawyer. They were asked if Dulgarian owed anyone money, if he was hurt, and if anything weird was going on, to where both the fighter and lawyer said no.

Jon Jones isn’t actively speaking to Dana White right now, but ‘Bones’ does seem to want to make amends for some aspects of how the infamous Tom Aspinall situation played out. Speaking to Zayd Hussein of the No Scripts Podcast, the former two-division UFC champion mentioned this while also outlining what he wants for the next step as ‘Bones’ eyes a massive fight. Despite retiring from MMA and vacating his heavyweight crown, where Tom Aspinall was upgraded to undisputed champion, Jones is proving the old adage that MMA retirements are not long-lasting.

UFC star Michael ‘Venom’ Page believes Leon Edwards is still good enough to defeat Carlos Prates at UFC 322. At UFC 322, Leon Edwards will go head to head with rising contender Carlos Prates in the welterweight division. While ‘Rocky’ has been on a rough run of form as of late, Prates has the potential to be a future title contender – and potentially a really big star in mixed martial arts as a whole.

UFC heavyweight legend Alistair Overeem has defended Tom Aspinall following his eye poke controversy at UFC 321. Over the course of the last few weeks, Tom Aspinall has come under a lot of scrutiny after a double eye poke rendered him unable to continue in his UFC 321 main event against Ciryl Gane. Despite the fact that the incident clearly impacted his vision pretty dramatically, the Englishman hasn’t been getting a whole lot of sympathy from the mixed martial arts world.

Steve Garcia wasn’t shocked that he was able to get a quick finish over David Onama at UFC Vegas 110. Garcia was headlining his first UFC card against Onama in a pivotal featherweight fight. Entering the bout, Garcia was a small betting favorite, but he made quick work of Onama, scoring a TKO win just 3:34 into the first round.

After UFC Vegas 110, suspicious betting activity associated with Yadier del Valle’s win over Isaac Dulgarian sparked an FBI investigation into the UFC and alleged fight fixing.

Michael Bisping expects Jack Della Maddalena vs. Islam Makhachev to be a much closer fight than the odds suggest. Della Maddalena is looking to defend his welterweight title for the first time when he takes on Makhachev, who vacated his lightweight title to move up. Heading into the bout, Makhachev is a -258 favorite, but UFC analyst Michael Bisping expects the bout to be much closer than the odds suggest.
