A women’s strawweight bout between former division champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and perennial division contender Tecia Torres took place on tonight’s UFC on FOX 30 main card.
Joanna entered tonight’s bout on a two-fight losing skid, with both of those losses coming at the hands and feet of current women’s strawweight title holder Rose Namajunas.
Meanwhile, Tecia Torres was most recently seen in action this past February where she had her three-fight win streak snapped by Jessica Andrade.
Here’s how it went down:
Round one begins. Torres presses forward, keen to keep Joanna Jedrzejczyk on her back foot. Joanna responds with a pair of jabs. Torres continues to apply pressure, an initiates the clinch against the cage. The pair exchange knees, and Torres attempts a takedown. Joanna stuffs it. The clinch work continues. Joanna strings Torres with a knee to the body. Joanna works for underhooks and sneaks in a few more knees before finally reserving position. Torres spins the former champion around once more, pressuring her into the cage. Joanna is stuck, but she’s keeping Torres uncomfortable with all kinds of sneaky strikes. Joanna finally reverses, and pressures Torres into the cage. Joanna attacks her foe’s legs with knees. Torres looks to reverse the action again, but Joanna denies her attempt. Joanna sneaks in a crackling right hand. She’s not letting Torres breath. Torres looks for the trip but Joanna his having none of it. Torres spins around and dives in on a single leg. Joanna shows incredible balance, and fights off this takedown until the round ends.
Joanna works with her kicks, Torres fires back with some kicks of her own. Neither woman seems keen to clinch again after a tough first round. Joanna shows off her reach, pumping a jab, and following up with a right hand. Torres connects with a right hand, but Joanna is unfazed. The pair are opening up. Torres presses forward, but Joanna’s counters are ferocious. Torres finally ties up, diving in on a double leg. Joanna won’t go down, and they clinch. Torres again attacks a leg, but Joanna once again denies this attempt. Joanna reverses, but a brutishly strong Torres spins her around and presses her into the cage. They separate. Joanna takes the center of the cage and unleashes a front kick and some punches to the body. Torres misses with a kick, Joanna fires with a kick that connects. Torres attempts to cut Joanna off, but the former champion is moving well. They exchange with fervor. Both women land huge punches as the round ends.

Torres takes center cage. She unleashes a kick and Joanna responds with a jab. Joanna takes center cage away from her foe and doges a kick. Joanna’s jabs are on point. Torres plows forward, but Joanna avoids any trouble. Joanna connects with a snapping jab and a straight punch to the body. Torres is moving forward with her hands low, and Joanna lands a big right hand. Torres lands a nice kick, and Joanna fires back with a slick one-two. Joanna will not give up the center of the Octagon. The former champion throws a front kick to the midsection, and Torres finally closes the distance and initiates a tie-up. She wants the takedown, but Joanna refuses to go down. The gruelling clinch work continues, as Torres attempts to press her foe through the chainlink. Joanna denies another single leg attempt and they separate. Once again, they’re exchanging. Joanna lands a nice body kick. Out of nowhere, Torres lands her first takedown of the fight — a single leg. Joanna quickly gets up and they clinch. They jockey for position and exchange heavy artillery in the clinch as the final bell ends.
Result: Joanna Jedrzejczyk returns to the win column with a unanimous decision win.
