UFC bantamweight star Sean O’Malley has said he’d love to compete on the proposed Fight Island, but that a July return is more likely. O’Malley made his return to the Octagon back at UFC 248, scoring an impressive TKO win over José Alberto Quiñónez in a little over two minutes. The win took him to 4-0 in the UFC, including his appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series, and marked his first fight with the promotion since UFC 222 in March 2018.

UFC president Dana White says that bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley will get a quick turnaround fight after his first-round win at UFC 248. O’Malley hadn’t fought in two years due to a USADA-induced layoff. But he looked amazing at UFC 248, as he didn’t even need a full round to dispatch of Jose Quinonez with a quick first-round knockout. O’Malley was awarded a $50,000 bonus for his excellent performance, and the UFC is going to try and get him back in the cage as soon as possible.

O’Malley himself was the first to recently reveal that he was finally returning to the Octagon at UFC 247, which takes place on February 8 at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. However, MMAjunkie.com is now reporting that O’Malley will instead make his comeback at UFC 248, which is set for March 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Regrettably, the popular bantamweight was forced off this card when he failed a pre-fight drug test administered by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). Although new USADA policy dictates that potential violations are to no longer be announced, O’Malley chose to be forthright with his fans and explained that it was a failed drug test that forced him off the card. He also maintained that he did not mean to ingest a banned substance, and that his failed test was likely due to a tainted supplement.
