UFC superstar Conor McGregor and free agent heavyweight Fabricio Werdum traded shots on Twitter over the drug testing in Bellator. McGregor took to social media this week to criticize Bellator for its drug testing procedures. Unlike the UFC which has USADA in addition to the testing from athletic commissions, Bellator relies on the commissions of the jurisdictions where it holds events to provide its drug testing. McGregor believes that Bellator should step up its game and get to the UFC’s level when it comes to bringing in a third-party such as USADA to test.

A highly-anticipated welterweight bout between Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev is set to headline a UFC event on December 19 in Las Vegas. As replayed by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, UFC president Dana White appeared on the Jim Rome show on Friday and made the announcement that the Edwards vs. Chimaev fight is a done deal. The fight will reportedly take place at 170lbs at a UFC Fight Night card on December 19 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be a five-round headliner.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier explained why a rematch against superstar Conor McGregor is so important to him. Poirier and McGregor first met back in September 2014 at UFC 178. At the time, both men were competing in the UFC featherweight division. Though Poirier was riding a hot streak heading into that contest, he suffered his first career knockout loss when McGregor stopped him with strikes in the first round. That fight turned out to be the last time Poirier competed at 145lbs, at he moved up to 155lbs in 2015 and hasn’t looked back.

Makhachev was originally set to take on former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos at this weekend’s UFC 254 card. However, the fight was scratched after RDA tested positive for COVID-19. Rather than keep Makhachev on the card against another opponent, the UFC has instead decided to re-book the fight between Makhachev and RDA for the UFC Vegas card on November 14, as we previously reported on BJPenn.com.

Since then, he was scheduled to fight Tyron Woodley in March. However, the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Edwards was then locked down in England and couldn’t train properly so he turned down multiple fights.

Conor McGregor is calling for Bellator to start drug testing fighters. Ever since 2015 when the UFC and USADA partnered for anti-doping testing, many wondered when Bellator would follow suit. However, they have yet to partner with a company to do year-round testing as currently fighters are only tested by the Athletic Commissions during fight week.
