UFC 208 Results: Germaine de Randamie defeats Holly Holm (Highlights)

A women’s featherweight title fight between former bantamweight champion Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie served as the main event of tonight’s UFC 208 event in Brooklyn. Round one begins and de Randamie moves forward quickly and throws a right kick to the body. Holm throws a side kick that misses. She presses forward with a combination. Germaine responds with a leg kick. Holly replies with a hard low kick of her own. Holm is using a lot of movement here. Germaine lands a nice right hand. Holly charges forward with a combination but does not connect. A nice kick lands for Holly. Germaine replies with a right hand. Holly comes forward and lands a hard leg kick. She circles out and then charges forward but eats a left hand. Germaine follows that up with a right. Holly lands another hard leg kick. De Randamie fires back with a big right hand. Interesting that Holly hasn’t even fainted for a takedown attempt yet. One minute remains. Holly shoots in for a takedown. Germiane defends but Holly has her pressed against the cage. Holm is working on a single leg. She can’t get it. 10 seconds remains. Holm keeps Germaine pressed against the cage to close things out.
UFC 208 Results: Anderson Silva defeats Derek Brunson (Highlights)

A key middleweight bout between former division title holder Anderson Silva and Derek Brunson served as the co-main event of tonight’s UFC 208 pay-per-view card in Brooklyn, New York. Round one begins and Silva takes the center of the octagon. Brunson comes forward and lands a leg kick. He circles out and then lands another leg kick. Silva comes forward and lands a left hand. Brunson leaps in with a right but Silva counters with a left. Derek with an inside leg kick. Anderson charges forward and throws a combination. Brunson ducks under and shoots in for a takedown. He presses Silva against the fence. Anderson breaks free and circles out. The fighters trade punches in the center of the cage. Brunson shoots in for a takedown but it is not there. Derek lands a left and then a right in the clinch. The fighters break and Brunson misses with a front kick. Derek circles and lands a leg kick. He lands another hard kick to the outside of Anderson’s leg. Silva pressing forward now. He lands a kick to the body and then throws a wheel kick. Brunson lands an uppercut and then another. Silva attempts a flying knee that misses. He falls down and Brunson drops in to his guard as round one comes to an end.

A middleweight bout between Jacare Souza and Tim Boetsch took place on tonight’s UFC 208 main card in Brooklyn. Round one begins and Souza presses forward with a jab early. He lands a front kick to the body of Tim. Boetsch returns fire with a leg kick. Jacare shoots in but Tim showcases a beautiful sprawl to remain standing. The fighters clinch and Jacare lands a right as they break. Tim lands a hard leg kick. He circles out and avoids a Souza jab. Another nice leg kick scores for Boetsch. jacare comes forward and lands a nice body shot. Tim replies with a hard right hand. He throws a leg kick but Jacare catches it and uses the limb to score a takedown. Jacare quickly moves to side control. He begis working some left hands. Souza is looking to move to mount. He does. 90 seconds remain in the round. Jacare with a left hand. He transitions to a kimura and Tim is forced to tapout.

A light heavyweight bout between Glover Teixeira and Jared Cannonier took place during tonight’s UFC 208 main card in Brooklyn. Round one begins and Jared misses with a left to start. Glover presses forward and lands a right hand. Cannonier circles out throws a left. Teixeira responds with a combination and then shoots in and lands a takedown. He begins working from full guard but quickly passes to half guard. Jared scrambles back to the full guard position. Glover lands a left and then passes to half guard. He lands a nice elbow. Glover grabs a hold of his neck and then drops down for a guillotine. It is tight. Jared is able to transition and break free but winds up on the bottom in half guard position. Glover works some left hand from the top. He is working for an arm triangle choke. He lets that go and work some right hands. Glover moves to full mount but Jared quickly scrambles back to half guard. Glover pushes Jared against the fence but Cannonier uses the position to stand up. Jared lands a knee and then an uppercut and Glover wobbles back in retreat. Round one comes to a close.

UFC 208 Results: Belal Muhammad defeats Randy Brown via decision

A welterweight bout between Randy Brown and Belal Muhammad served as the featured bout of tonight’s UFC 208 prelims in Brooklyn. Round one begins and Belal immediately begins attacking the legs of Brown with some hard kicks. More good low kicks from Muhammad. Brown attempts to return fire but misses. Belal charges forward with a right that miss. Randy connects with a right and then an uppercut. He follows that up with a leg kick. Belal comes forward but eats a crisp jab. Randy connects with a knee but Belal returns fire with a hard leg kick. Randy circles out and then lands a jab. Belal connects with another hard leg kick. Randy returns fire with one of his own. Muhammad with a hard leg kick. Brown circles out. Belal continues his pressure and lands yet another hard leg kick. Brown misses with a spinning back fist attempt. Round one comes to an end.
UFC 208 Results: Wilson Reis defeats Ulka Sasaki

A flyweight bout between Wilson Reis and Ulka Sasaki took place during tonight’s UFC 208 prelims in Brooklyn. Round one begins and Sasaki lands a hard body kick early. Wilson misses with a left. He presses forward and lands a nice body combination. Ulka lands a pair of nice rights but Reis shoots in and lands a nice takedown. He quickly moves to half guard. Sasaki uses a Kimura attempt to get back to his feet. He lands a nice left jab. Reis shoots in but is unable to land a takedown. Another nice left jab from Ulka. He lands a right and then a front kick. Reis shoots in and scores a beautiful double leg. Sasaki immediately jumps on a kimura attempt. Reis passes guard and looks to lock up an arm triangle. It is not there but Reis lands a left hand. Wilson with some hard elbows. Sasaki gets back to full guard. He lands some good hammer fists from his back. Reis with another nice elbow and then another. Sasaki gets back to his feet just as round one comes to an end.
UFC 208 Results: Islam Makhachev defeats Nik Lentz

A lightweight bout between Nik Lentz and Islam Makhachev took place on tonight’s UFC 208 prelims. Round one begins and Nik immediately engages Islam in the clinch. Makhachev scores a quick trip takedown and begins working from full guard. Lentz locks up a guillotine choke but cannot secure the submission. Islam pops his head out and begins working some strikes. Nik scrambles but cannot get back up to his feet. Good top control here from Islam. He works some short strikes from the top. Lentz is working for another guillotine choke. He locks it up but it does not appear to be tight. Round one comes to an end.

A welterweight bout between Roan Carneiro and Ryan LaFlare kicked off tonight’s UFC 208 pay-per-view event in Brooklyn, New York. Round one begins and Ryan quickly takes the center of the octagon and lands a hard body kick. Roan circles out and attempts a head kick that misses. He returns fire with a low kick that connects flush. Ryan eats the blow and presses forward landing another hard body kick. LaFlare continues his forward pressure and lands a jab followed by another kick. Roan returns fire with a hard leg kick. He shoots in for a takedown but Ryan hits a switch and winds up in top position. LaFlare in half guard now. He begins working some short elbows. Ryan decides to stand up and lands a nice jab followed by a hard body kick. One minute remains and LaFlare lands another hard kick. Roan pushes Ryan against the fence and begins working from the clinch. The fighters break and LaFlare charges forward with a series of punches. Round one comes to an end.

Unfortunate news surfaced Saturday morning that Ian McCall had been forced out of his UFC 208 scrap with undefeated UFC newcomer Jarred Brooks. After having multiple fights in a row scrapped due to unfortunate circumstances, all signs pointed to McCall finally stepping into the Octagon to fight.

Dana White says Misha Cirkunov is done in the UFC

At UFC 206 in December, streaking light heavyweight Misha Cirkunov stepped into the Octagon for a highly anticipated showdown with Nikita Krylov. Cirkunov rose to the occasion and continued his undefeated UFC streak as he submitted Krylov in the very first round, marking the biggest win of his UFC career. The win made it four in a row for Cirkunov, who many believed to be on the brink of bursting into the official UFC’s rankings following a 1st round KO win over Daniel Jolly in his UFC debut, which he followed up with back to back submission wins over Alex Nicholson and Ion Cutelaba before his win over Krylov.

While it has been nearly five years since former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre stepped into the Octagon for his final fight, a welterweight title defense against Johny Hendricks, headlines regarding a potential Georges St-Pierre return have continued to surface. Most recently, all signs pointed to the former champ returning to the Octagon last year after reports began to surface that negotiations with the UFC had been going well after he and UFC President Dana White buried the hatchet. Unfortunately, while it looked as though St-Pierre would be returning to the Octagon to fight middleweight champion Michael Bisping, the former champ took to social media to release a statement on why he would be unable to fight Bisping, saying:

A 2016 Cris Cyborg failed drug test could have landed Cyborg on the sidelines for quite some time, however UFC President Dana White is optimistic regarding the situation. Last year, Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg made her highly anticipated UFC debut at UFC 198, where she picked up a 1st round TKO win over Leslie Smith in a catchweight bout. Cyborg built on the momentum later in the year as she picked up another dominant win over Lina Lansberg in Brazil. Unfortunately, when the UFC attempted to offer Cyborg a women’s featherweight UFC fight, she was forced to turn the bout down due to the strain cutting down to 140 pounds put on her body.
