Fans were ecstatic to hear that Georges St-Pierre and the UFC have finally reached an agreement for St-Pierre to fight again in the Octagon. Famed boxing trainer Freddie Roach and St-Pierre’s CAA agent, Nick Khan, arranged the deal with UFC President Dana White and now the world is waiting to hear who St-Pierre will fight in his return.

The last few months have been pretty crazy for former heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos. After a successful surgery mid-way through 2016, he began campaigning for a fight in the fall. When no fight materialized, he attempted to replace an injured Cain Velasquez against former champ Fabricio Werdum at December’s UFC 207. When this bout failed to come together, he accepted a fight with the much lower ranked Stefan Struve, which was expected to headline last weekend’s UFC Halifax card. Finally, when Struve pulled out of this fight with an injury, Dos Santos was pencilled in for a somewhat surprising heavyweight title shot against Stipe Miocic, who he beat back 2014.

Georges S-Pierre’s last fight in the Octagon was against Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 back on November 16, 2013. Now, with “Rush” and the UFC working out an agreement for the former welterweight champion to compete in the Octagon again, Hendricks is looking to get his rematch after their extremely close first fight that ended in a split decision win for St-Pierre.

Over the last few weeks, the UFC has generated some significant controversy by releasing a handful of top-flight fighters from their roster. Some of the more noteworthy of these fighters are ranked light heavyweights Ryan Bader, Misha Cirkunov and Nikita Krylov and streaking welterweight star Lorenz Larkin. Perhaps the most talented and promising fighter of the bunch, however, was Kyoji Horiguchi, who at just 26 years old, had already fought for the UFC flyweight title, and amassed an overall record of 18-2. While the UFC’s willingness to let the fan favorite Kid Yamamoto protégé go is quite frankly baffling, the good news is that the popular Japanese star has already found himself a new home. As many expected, he’ll be returning to his homeland to compete in the ring of surging Japanese promotion Rizin Fighting Federation.

Back in June 2015, UFC heavyweight Travis Browne’s ex-wife Jenna Renee Webb took to Instagram to share photos of her bruised body. She suggested these bruises were dealt by Browne, and shortly thereafter, announced that she was considering pressing charges against him. As a result of this grim development, the UFC temporarily shelved Browne, and barred him from that year’s International Fight Week events. After an independent investigation, however, the organization decided their was insufficient evidence against Browne, and opted to reinstate him.

On Sunday night, the UFC touched down in snowy Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada for the second time. In the card’s main event, we saw streaking heavyweight destroyer Derrick Lewis collect another skull by weathering an early storm to KO Travis Browne in the second. In the co-main event, meanwhile, we saw former welterweight champ Johny Hendricks make a successful middleweight debut with a hard-fought decision defeat of former Bellator champ Hector Lombard. The rest of the card, finally, featured big wins from some of Canada’s top fighters, and talented athletes from far further afield.

Last night, the UFC touched down in snow covered Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada for a second time. In the evening’s main event, streaking heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis faced arguably the biggest test of his already impressive career in towering Hawaiian Travis “Hapa” Browne. In the early moments of this fight, it looked like it could be a tough night for Lewis, as Browne appeared to hurt him repeatedly with spear-like kicks to the body. Though Lewis’ kryptonite might have been exposed by these body kicks, he ultimately survive the first round. Once the second began, the complexion of the fight changed dramatically.

Last night, in the co-main event of the UFC’s latest trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks sought to rebound from a tough three-fight losing streak with a fresh start in the middleweight division. His opportunity to do so came against former Olympian and Bellator champion Hector Lombard. Though Hendricks had to absorb some thudding shots to do so, he ultimately earned himself a sound, unanimous decision win. Though not everyone agreed with this decision, it was a definite feel-good moment for the revivified former champ.

Round one begins and McMann quickly pushes Mazany up against the fence. McMann scores with an early takedown and quickly moves to mount. She locks in an arm-triangle choke and this one is going to be over. Mazany tries to fight the choke but it is deep. Gina is forced to tapout. McMann with her second submission victory in a row. WOW!
