Surging UFC middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi scored a controversial second-round TKO victory over former division champion Chris Weidman at last night’s UFC 210 event in Buffalo, New York. Mousasi caught Weidman with a pair of knees during the midway point of the second round that had the former champion in a world of hurt. The referee stepped in and put a stop to the action following the second knee from Mousasi as he believed both of Weidman’s hands were on the floor, thus making the strike illegal.

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has been out of the public eye since her end-of-year loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207, where she was handed her second straight professional loss following her 2015 KO loss to Holly Holm. Following Rousey’s recent loss to Nunes, UFC President Dana White admitted that Rousey was likely done fighting, and more likely than not would be moving on to pursue other endeavors outside of MMA.

Early in 2017, the UFC announced that former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre would be returning to the Octagon in 2017 to challenge UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping for the middleweight title. The promotion held a press conference with both men, where the pair exchanged barbs regarding their highly anticipated scrap. With that being said however, no information was given in regards to when the fight would take place. Michael Bisping then revealed that if St-Pierre was not prepared to fight in July, he would be taking away St-Pierre’s title shot and giving it to Yoel Romero:

Friday afternoon, after UFC newcomer Pearl Gonzalez weighed-in for her scheduled UFC 210 scrap with Cynthia Calvillo, she was informed by the NYSAC that she would not be allowed to compete on Saturday night due to her breast implants. The MMA community was quickly enraged over the matter, given that the rule was made several years ago, when MMA was illegal in New York, and made with female boxers in mind. Ultimately, after a period of uncertainty, Calvillo was granted permission to fight.
