Derrick Lewis will be going down to Brazil next month to headline UFC Sao Paulo. On Monday, it was reported that Curtis Blaydes was out of his scheduled main event fight against Jailton Almeida at UFC Sao Paulo due to injury. However, Ag.Fight revealed that Derrick Lewis has agreed to step up to face the Brazilian in the main event spot on Nov. 4 at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The UFC is returning to Sao Paulo, Brazil in November and the promotion has its main event. According to MMAJunkie, the UFC will return to Sao Paulo on November 4 for a Fight Night card which is set to be headlined by a pivotal heavyweight bout between Curtis Blaydes and Jailton Almeida. The report states that verbal agreements are in place with contracts expected to be issued in the coming days. The last time the UFC was in Sao Paulo was in 2019 when Jan Blachowicz beat Jacare Souza in the main event.

In the main event of UFC Charlotte, a battle of top-12 heavyweights went down as Jairzinho Rozenstruik took on Jailton Almeida. Rozenstruik entered the fight coming off a 23-second knockout win over Chris Daukaus back in December to return to the win column. Almeida, meanwhile, was a perfect 4-0 in the Octagon and was set for his first UFC main event.

UFC President Dana White is over the moon when it comes to Jailton Almeida’s potential. Almeida was in the main event of UFC on ABC 4 this past Saturday (May 13). He took on Jairzinho Rozenstruik, who was the number-nine-ranked UFC heavyweight. Almeida sat at the number 12 spot, but he will earn his place in the top 10 following his victory over “Bigi Boy.” Almeida scored a first-round submission finish via rear-naked choke to earn his 14th win in a row.
