UFC Hamburg results: Corey Anderson dominates Glover Teixeira (highlights)

Tom Taylor - July 22, 2018

The UFC Hamburg co-main event occurred in the light heavyweight division, where former title challenger Glover Teixeira looked to extend his streak to two-straight against Corey Anderson, who replaced the injured Ilir Latifi on short-notice. As expected, the wrestler Anderson sought to ground the knockout puncher Teixeira early in this fight. The American was able to succeed on a number of takedowns in the first round, though Teixeira was able to return to his feet each time. Anderson’s final takedown of the round nearly ended in disaster, as he dove in into a deep guillotine choke, and might not have survived had the round not ended.

UFC Hamburg loses co-main event as Ilir Latifi suffers injury

Drake Riggs - July 5, 2018

The UFC’s next event in Europe continues to lose out on it’s top showcases. After Volkan Oezdemir’s bailing to fight Alexander Gustafsson, another loss has come for UFC Hamburg. It just gets worse and worse for the UFC’s return to Germany as although they are retaining their headliner with Mauricio “Shogun” Rua now taking on the replacement in Anthony Smith, a replacement will quickly need to be found for the co-main event too.

Jimi Manuwa Drops the Name He Wants to Fight Next

Justin Golightly - November 9, 2017

Before all hell broke loose, Jimi Manuwa was seemingly the next guy in line for a UFC light heavyweight title shot. Of course, then we were hit with a Jon Jones controversy and Manuwa was hit by Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 214. That was at the end of July, now the hard-hitting Brit is ready to come back to the Octagon and get back on track for a title shot. In order to do this, he wants to take on scrappy veteran Glover Teixeira on his path to gold. I want glover in my next fight, after that I’m coming for Cormier or oezdemir, who ever wins. 1 fight then the title is what’s happening #lionseatfirst pic.twitter.com/W7fmfvLekK

After eye-poke, Glover Teixeira says he was seeing "three Gustafssons"

Tom Taylor - May 30, 2017

Last weekend, the UFC touched down in Stockholm, Sweden with an exciting 12-fight card. In the main event, the fighting pride of Sweden himself, Alexander Gustafsson, scored an impressive, fifth-round knockout win over the dangerous Glover Teixeira. For Teixeira, things obviously didn’t go as planned – and not only because he got knocked out. The Brazilian finisher also sustained an unfortunate eye-poke mid-way through the fight, which he says affected him significantly, though he does not attribute his loss to this accidental foul.

Glover Teixeira following Chuck Liddell's guidelines for retirement

bjpenndotcom - March 29, 2017

UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell stepped away from the Octagon many years ago following his UFC 115 KO loss to Rich Franklin, which saw him drop his third straight loss. How did Liddell know it was time to retire? In addition to realizing he was past his physical peak, he no longer enjoyed going to the gym and training. Now, years later, Liddell’s protege, Glover Teixeira, is applying the same philosophy to his own career. Despite being a staple of the UFC’s light heavyweight division, many believe Teixeira to be somewhat of a gatekeeper to the top 3 light heavyweights given his losses to Jon Jones, Phil Davis, and most recently Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson.

Report: Glover Teixeira vs. Jared Cannonier in the works for UFC 208

Tom Taylor - December 7, 2016

Late last month, reports surfaced that Glover Teixeira and Jimi Manuwa were being considered for a light heavyweight showdown at UFC 208 in Anaheim, California. Unfortunately, that card was cancelled altogether, which meant that UFC 209 – scheduled for February 11 in Brooklyn – became the new UFC 208. With the cancellation of the originally scheduled UFC 208, Teixeira and Manuwa’s planned bout was also scrapped. While reports quickly began to suggest that Manuwa would be rescheduled for a March 18 card in his native England, it was not known when or where Teixeira would make his next steps into the Octagon.
