The sources asked for anonymity since the news hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. The two 185-pound fighters were expected to lock horns on August 22 in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the UFC APEX facility. They were slated to co-headline the event.

The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is a region that is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan, but is predominantly populated by Armenians, many of whom feel it belongs to Armenia. The contested region was the subject of a short war in 1920, another violent conflict in the early 90s, and has been the site of several bloody skirmishes as recently as this year.
