Tyson Fury tests positive for COVID-19, trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder postponed

Cole Shelton - July 8, 2021

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will no longer be having their trilogy fight on July 24. Fury was supposed to fight Anthony Joshua in a heavyweight unification fight. However, an arbitrator ruled Wilder was owed the third fight so it was quickly booked to happen on July 24 in Las Vegas. As the bout got closer, it began getting more hyped up but it will not happen. It was reported on Thursday that the fight was likely to be postponed after a COVID-19 outbreak in Fury’s camp. Now, boxing journalist, Dan Rafael reports Fury was one of many who tested positive and the fight has been postponed.

Jake Paul blasts "bald bum" Dana White over fighter pay and the way he runs the UFC: "You live in lies"

Cole Shelton - July 8, 2021

Jake Paul doesn’t believe Dana White does a good job of running the UFC. Paul and White have had several public feuds at one another ever since Paul fought and knocked out Ben Askren. That has only continued as of late, especially after the brash YouTuber turned boxer donated to UFC fighters, Sarah Alpar’s GoFundMe’s campaign to allow her to train full-time.

Conor McGregor plans to face Charles Oliveira in December at Allegiant Stadium: "He’s going to crumble"

Cole Shelton - July 8, 2021

Conor McGregor has big plans for himself after Saturday night. In the main event of UFC 264, McGregor is set to fight Dustin Poirier in their trilogy match. It’s a pivotal matchup where Dana White has promised the winner the next title shot. McGregor has made it clear that he’s planning on a devastating KO over Poirier that would set up a scrap against Charles Oliveira.

Rafael dos Anjos fires back after Conor McGregor says to put him in the cage at UFC 264

Adam D Martin - July 8, 2021

Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos fired back after Conor McGregor said to put him in the cage against him at UFC 264. There are reports emerging from Las Vegas which suggest that dos Anjos is the backup fighter for the UFC 264 main event between McGregor and Dustin Poirier. The UFC hasn’t officially tabbed dos Anjos as the backup fighter, but people in Las Vegas have seen him at the fighter hotel cutting weight just in case something happens to either McGregor or Poirier ahead of Saturday’s pay-per-view card. In the event that the unthinkable happens and one of these two men falls off the card, the UFC will have dos Anjos step in and fight.

Dustin Poirier would "be successful" and "dominant" at welterweight if he moves up, says coach

Cole Shelton - July 8, 2021

Dustin Poirier started his UFC career at featherweight and may end it at welterweight, his strength and conditioning coach, Phil Daru says. Poirier is set to headline UFC 264 in a highly-anticipated trilogy bout against Conor McGregor. It’s a massive fight for both men and in the lead-up to the scrap, “The Diamond” asked if it could take place at welterweight. He wanted the trilogy to take place at three different weight classes but for Daru, that is also due to the fact Poirier is a big lightweight that does cut a lot of weight.

Jerome Rivera plans to "shut down" Zhalgas Zhumagulov at UFC 264: "I'm looking to expose him"

Cole Shelton - July 8, 2021

Jerome Rivera knows his UFC 264 fight against Zhalgas Zhumagulov is do-or-die for his UFC career. Rivera enters the fight being 0-3 in the UFC and not many fighters get the fourth fight if they are winless through three. Yet, Rivera did the UFC a favor in taking a fight against Ode Osbourne up two weight classes at featherweight on just three day’s notice. With that, the UFC promised him another fight regardless of the result and they stuck to their word.

Belal Muhammad says Leon Edwards "played it a little bit safe" against Nate Diaz, still wants the rematch

Adam D Martin - July 8, 2021

UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad says rival Leon Edwards “played it a little bit safe” against Nate Diaz and once again asked for the rematch. Muhammad and Edwards fought back in March to a No Contest after Edwards accidentally poked Muhammad in the eye early in the second round, rendering him unable to continue. As the Muhammad vs. Edwards fight was a replacement bout in its own right, the UFC decided not to match these two up again despite the inconclusive way the fight ended. Instead, the UFC booked Muhammad against Demian Maia at UFC 263 and Edwards against Nate Diaz on the same card, and both men would go onto win their fights that night.

Niko Price says he quit smoking weed after being suspended twice

Adam D Martin - July 8, 2021

UFC welterweight fighter Niko Price says he quit smoking weed after being suspended following his fight against Donald Cerrone last year. Price tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his draw with Donald Cerrone last September. The result of the bout was overturned to a No Contest and Price was fined and suspended for six months after the commission found traces of THC in his drug test. This was the second time in Price’s career that he was sanctioned for his marijuana use. Back in 2017, Price knocked out Alex Morono in his UFC debut but the result of the fight was overturned to a No Contest after he tested positive for marijuana. After being hit hard in the pocketbook twice for smoking up, Price says that he’s done with smoking weed now.

Sean O'Malley responds to critics who says he copies Conor McGregor

Adam D Martin - July 8, 2021

Bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley responded to the critics who say that he copies promotional superstar Conor McGregor ahead of UFC 264. O’Malley takes on UFC newcomer Kris Moutinho in the opening main card fight at Saturday’s pay-per-view, which features McGregor against Dustin Poirier in a trilogy fight that serves as the main event. Ever since O’Malley stepped into the UFC, there have been comparisons drawn to McGregor as both men are ultra-confident trash talkers who possess massive knockout power in their fists. But O’Malley is denying that he copies McGregor.

Greg Hardy unloads on "fatty" Derrick Lewis: "He’s an ex-con that doesn’t know when to shut up"

Adam D Martin - July 8, 2021

UFC heavyweight Greg Hardy unloaded on “fatty” Derrick Lewis, saying that “The Black Beast” is “an ex-con that doesn’t know when to shut up.” Hardy takes on Tai Tuivasa on the UFC 264 main card this Saturday night in Las Vegas. Ahead of this weekend’s big PPV event, Hardy spoke to the media about the state of the UFC heavyweight division, and he was asked about the upcoming interim heavyweight title bout at UFC 265 between Lewis and Ciryl Gane. According to Hardy, he is rooting for Gane to beat Lewis because he doesn’t like him. If you ask Hardy, it was Lewis who brought his name up and talked trash about him first, and ever since then, he hasn’t been a fan of him.

Gilbert Burns says it would be "easy money" to fight Nate Diaz

Adam D Martin - July 8, 2021

UFC welterweight contender Gilbert Burns said it would be “easy money” if he were to step into the Octagon and fight against Nate Diaz. Burns takes on Stephen Thompson in the co-main event of Saturday’s UFC 264 pay-per-view card. Coming off of a TKO loss to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, Burns is eager to get back into the Octagon and get back into the win column, and inch closer back to getting a title shot. But while Burns is focused on getting back to the title, he can’t help but look at the other fighters at 170lbs and wonder how those fights would play out.

Conor McGregor reacts after Rafael dos Anjos tabbed as backup for UFC 264 main event

Adam D Martin - July 8, 2021

UFC superstar Conor McGregor reacted after Rafael dos Anjos was tabbed as the backup for his UFC 264 main event fight against Dustin Poirier. On Wednesday, reports emerged that dos Anjos was spotted in Las Vegas and was cutting weight in preparation for Friday’s weigh-in ahead of UFC 264. Apparently dos Anjos was brought in by the UFC as the backup fighter for the UFC 264 main event just in case anything happens to either McGregor or Poirier. In the event that someone gets injured, sick, or doesn’t pass COVID-19 protocols, the UFC will have dos Anjos step in and fight on Saturday night. The hope is that it doesn’t come to that, but RDA is insurance either way.
