Tyron Woodley has been criticized by fans and fighters over taking pictures with Jorge Masvidal and “The Chosen One” has responded. Images surfaced of Woodley and Masvidal seemingly hanging out. Colby Covington and Dillon Danis ripped Woodley as he’s a close friend of Ben Askren, who was knocked out by Masvidal in five seconds. Woodley returned fire and said he and Masvidal were on the set for a cbdMD commercial. The former UFC welterweight champion also said he reached out to Askren on the matter.
Corey Anderson challenges Johnny Walker to fight at MSG

After UFC president Dana White nixed a potential Corey Anderson vs. Jon Jones title bout, Anderson now has his sights set on a fight with Johnny Walker. Anderson called out Walker publicly on Twitter, and said he wants to fight him at UFC 244, taking place November 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. UFC president Dana White isn’t interested in seeing Max Holloway compete at lightweight again, but “Blessed” is up for the challenge. Holloway was seen in action this past Saturday night (July 27). He put the featherweight gold on the line against Frankie Edgar in the main event of UFC 240. The bout went the distance and Holloway was able to find his range and thwart takedown attempts to snag a unanimous decision victory. It’s Holloway’s third successful title defense.
Stephen Thompson calls for fight with Rafael dos Anjos

Two-time UFC welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson is eager to get back on track after an upset, knockout loss to Anthony Pettis, and he knows just when he’d like to do so. In fact, he even has a potential opponent in mind. Speaking to the media backstage at UFC 240 last weekend in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the fighter they call “Wonderboy” called for a scrap with former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. He said he he’d like the bout to occur at UFC 244 inside Madison Square Garden in New York City this November.
Alex Volkanovski confident he can beat Max Holloway after UFC 240

Max Holloway successfully defended the UFC featherweight title with a unanimous decision win at UFC 240, but his opponent Frankie Edgar didn’t make it particularly easy for him. Alex Volkanovski, the man widely expected to get the next crack at Holloway, was cage-side for the fight, and says he scored it more closely than the judges did. “I actually thought that was a really close,” Volkanovski told MMA Fighting. “Sitting on the sidelines there, I thought it was a bit closer than what the judges scored, 50-45. I thought Frankie might have won some rounds. Definitely competitive I thought.”

Michael Bisping believes Israel Adesanya could make things interesting in a bout with Jon Jones. Adesanya and Jones have been trading barbs ever since “The Last Stylebender” said he was “hunting” another GOAT after beating Anderson Silva. Adesanya is the interim UFC middleweight champion and he’s set for a title unification bout against Robert Whittaker on Oct. 5. Meanwhile, Jones is coming off the second successful title defense in his current reign as UFC light heavyweight champion.

In the end, Holloway won this fight by unanimous decision, retaining the UFC featherweight title in the process. In the wake of this bout, Holloway has been vocal about the respect that he feels for his vanquished foe. At UFC 240, Max Holloway successfully defended his featherweight title against Frankie Edgar. The Hawaiian champion has strengthened his reign by defeating some of the UFC’s best talent — now including the former lightweight champion. This leaves many wondering, who will try and dethrone “Blessed” next? Australian fighter Alex Volkanovski is currently ranked number No. 1 in the featherweight division. He most recent fights have also been against top fighters. This includes back to back wins against Darren Elkins, Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo. He is yet to be defeated in the UFC’s Octagon and is confident he’s the man to unseat Holloway.

At this point, it’s not clear who will get the next crack at reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. The frontrunners, however, seem to be Corey Anderson and Jan Blachowicz. Anderson, of course, seems like a much less likely option after UFC President Dana White buried him for turning down fights.

At UFC 240, Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar finally shared the Octagon together after two previous attempts failed. In the end, it was Hawaii’s Holloway who came out on top, beating “The Answer” by unanimous decision. It was a competitive fight with both Holloway and Edgar having their moments. Yet, it was the champion who landed the better strikes and defended the takedowns en route to victory.
