Jake Shields unleashed the Diaz in him over the weekend. The former Strikeforce champion who is currently fighting for WSOF is a longtime teammate of the Diaz brothers. Shields took a page out of the Diaz brothers’ book after he was in the grappling co-main event of Polaris 3 in Wales over the weekend against opponent A.J. Agazarm.
The two had talked some trash talk prior to their match, and the talk didn’t stop after it all ended in a draw.
Agazarm went to shake Shields’ hand after the match and Shields refused, which caused Agazarm to push Shields. Shields then got close enough to Agazarm to flick a slap at Agazarm’s head.
Shields got on the mic after their match and said, “This guy was talking crap the whole time, gouging my eyes.” I just had my eye gouged the first time in my life my last fight and now you got this prick doing the same thing. He was bragging yesterday, ‘I’m gonna try and make it a draw, I’m gonna try to make it a draw. I know I can’t beat you, but if I can make it a draw I’m gonna consider that a win.’ So, congratulations A.J. You’re a bitch,” Shields stated. “How does it feel to be a pussy and get your draw?”
Agazarm later posted a statement on his Instagram account that read:
Competition doesn’t BUILD character; it REVEALS character….and all of you saw Jake’s character revealed tonight… As a member of the grappling community, I apologize for Jake Shields’ behavior…..

I know I’m speaking for everyone here when I call upon you to apologize for your unsportsmanlike behaviour, and to admit you were wrong….
