VIDEO | Manel Kape Pisses Ian McCall Off So Bad He Walks Out at RIZIN Presser
Justin Golightly - October 19, 2017
Just a couple of days after his UFC release, flyweight Ian McCall signed on with Japanese fighting organization RIZIN. He recently spoke in-depth to us about him jumping ship to the promotion, which is enjoying a meteoric rise from the ashes of Pride. He’ll be competing in the electric bantamweight grand prix and has his eyes on former UFC fighter Kyoji Horiguchi. Before McCall can get to him though, he’ll have to get through Manel Kape though. His potential remains somewhat of a mystery besides his first round finish of Erson Yamamoto last weekend, but right now it’s his mouth that’s running amok. “Well, I was finally healthy and I just felt like leaving the UFC and where else would I go besides here? There’s no where else I’d rather be. That’s why I’m here. I’m excited to hear about this grand prix and excited to fight these sort of fighters. It’s a good, talented group of people so I’m excited to be here. But specifically you [Kyoji Horiguchi]. I’m coming for you. Everybody else wants you, I want you too. We should have fought in the UFC and he’s very accomplished. He’s very good and I think that he’s got the most steam behind everybody because he’s the best.” — Ian McCall at the RIZIN press conference.
VIDEO | Demetrious Johnson explains how he would try to beat Brock Lesnar in a fight
Russell Ess - October 19, 2017
Demetrious Johnson is coming off a historic win with his 11th consecutive title defense. In doing so, “Mighty Mouse” surpassed Anderson Silva’s record for the most consecutive title defenses and could continue to add to it still being the active UFC flyweight champion. Not only did Johnson pull off the win and set the new record at UFC 216, but “Mighty Mouse” did it with pizzazz by pulling off a finishing move that many have never seen before. Johnson used a suplex to armbar sequence in the fifth round that had everyone in awe.
VIDEO | Cowboy Cerrone Hopes His Fight is the Best Advertisement for UFC Fight Pass
Justin Golightly - October 18, 2017
Early in the afternoon on Saturday, there is going to be a wild fight going down in Poland and the only place you can watch it is on UFC Fight Pass. Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone will throw down with up-and-comer Darren Till in the main event. You’d think a name like Cerrone would want to be on pay-per-view somewhere, or the curtain-jerker on a big UFC on FOX card, but he couldn’t care less. He wants anyone who doesn’t have Fight Pass to shell out the nine bucks because the Cowboy is fighting and that’s just must-see TV. “I want the UFC to post, ‘Cowboy in Poland [on] Fight Pass’ and people say, ‘What the f-ck is Fight Pass? I gotta’ figure out what Fight Pass is. How do we watch this fight?’ That’s what I want. I want you guys to come on and have the biggest draw in the Fight Pass history. Right? Because people gotta’ figure out how they’re going to watch the Cowboy fight because theyk now the son of a b-tch is going in there, biting down, and giving it all. Win or lose, I just want people to know he fights with everything he’s got.”
VIDEO | Dana White: Jon Jones is going to end up probably being suspended for a very long time
Russell Ess - October 18, 2017
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is currently going through the process of his latest potential anti-doping violation. In August, news broke that Jones tested positive for the steroid Turinabol from his UFC 214 weigh-in day sample and has been going through the due process with USADA and the California State Athletic Commission ever since.
VIDEO | Rory MacDonald and Douglas Lima Want These MMA Techniques Legalized
Justin Golightly - October 17, 2017
Rory MacDonald has moved on from the UFC and has set his sites on Bellator gold. In January, he’ll take on their welterweight champion Douglas Lima in January. Both fighters sat down and were asked questions ahead of their encounter about a wide variety of subjects. Asking fighters about what they’d do during a zombie apocalypse is a welcome change from the same questions they get every week. One MMA subject they talked about were which strikes they would make legal blows in the cage. “I think I would allow every elbow. Like, every type the way you throw. I think that would be a good thing. Because if you’re throwing like this or like this I don’t think it changes anything. So, elbows should be legal however you throw it — from up, down — I don’t think it changes anything.” — Douglas Lima to MMA Fighting.
VIDEO | Holly Holm Claps Back at Cyborg Over USADA Accusations
Justin Golightly - October 17, 2017
This morning, USADA paid a visit to Cris Cyborg today for her third test in a month. There was no problem, except for Cyborg wants the same testing frequency for her potential opponent Holly Holm, or any opponent for that matter. Does this mean they’re still in negotiations? Either way, Cyborg took to Twitter to make her request known and eventually drew out a shade-filled response from Holly Holm herself. I’ve actually just wasted a minute of my life on this video.
VIDEO | Georges St-Pierre and Michael Bisping Drop the Puck in Montreal to Two Very Different Reactions
Justin Golightly - October 14, 2017
Crowds were deafening last night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. It’s the same arena that Georges St-Pierre defended the UFC welterweight title against Josh Koscheck, Carlos Condit, and Nick Diaz. As soon as he walked out, it was clear he’s still a Canadian mega star. The audience welcomed its UFC prizefighter as he arrived to drop down the puck for the Toronto Maple Leafs/Montreal Canadiens game. His opponent Michael Bisping, predictably did not get the same treatment. Bisping booed, GSP cheered in Montreal. Shocking, I know #UFC217 pic.twitter.com/j5itgJ75WT
VIDEO | Tony Ferguson Responds to Conor McGregor in the Most Tony Ferguson Way
Justin Golightly - October 14, 2017
Only Conor McGregor could post a single word on social media with a five minute Grand Theft Auto art edit and have it blow up. Yesterday, McGregor sent out an image of his head and tattoos plastered on the popular video game’s art. It featured him speedboating away with tons of cash and his title belts in the background. He captioned the image ‘Tony’ and the internet did the rest. Of course, Tony Ferguson couldn’t let that stand. So, he posted a video of him in all sorts of GTA-inspired situations along with… well, just watch. “Zero 😎Fucks” 🇺🇸🏆🇲🇽#DefendorVacate MF’er 😎🖕🏽#TonyFergusonMMA SnapJitsu™ #SnapDownCity This Is My Mat. pic.twitter.com/9aMmzAB3z5

The news anchors brought up to White that there was talk of McGregor going to the WWE to wrestle next year.
VIDEO | Michael Bisping gets Georges St-Pierre to react during Toronto staredown
Russell Ess - October 13, 2017
UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre are set to meet in the Octagon at UFC 217, which takes place at the Madison Square Garden in New York on November 4. St-Pierre’s November 4th return to the Octagon will be just shy of four years since he last fought. St-Pierre last competed in mixed martial arts on November 16, 2013, where he defeated Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 in a close welterweight title fight that ended with a judge’s split decision going in favor of St-Pierre who was champion at the time. For the return of “Rush,” the former welterweight kingpin will be stepping up a weight class to challenge Bisping for his 185-pound title, which the Englishman won by knocking out Luke Rockhold at UFC 199 in June of last year.
VIDEO | Daniel Cormier talks about the one person he felt had that 'Oh my goodness' punching power
Russell Ess - October 12, 2017
There was a lot of back and forth talk with the Conor McGregor and Paulie Malignaggi sparring sessions, especially with their eventual fallout. After their first sparring session, Malignaggi said that McGregor’s punching power was good, but it wasn’t “Oh my god” power that he never felt before. Malignaggi stated that there were only a select few opponents and sparring partners that he felt had that sort of power and that seems to be the case with UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier as well.
VIDEO | Ronda Rousey Continues to Tease WWE Move But Doesn't Want to Spoil It
Justin Golightly - October 11, 2017
Ronda Rousey is out enjoying married life and a new co-owner position at a supplement company. However, the fans still want to know what the future holds for the former UFC champion. Even if MMA is out of the question, the idea that she may transition to pro wrestling has been teased for a long time. It all started back when she appeared at Wrestlemania at the height of her career to Judo throw Triple H. Now that her friend and Four Horsewomen member Shayna Baszler had entered the fold, it’s been more and more likely that she’ll sign on as well. She’s still mum on the subject, but hinted she doesn’t want to ruin anything. “If you were a real [wrestling] fan, would you really want to know [if I was making my debut]? No, you wouldn’t. My best friends that are out there wrestling, like Shayna [Baszler], I don’t ever even want her to tell me anything that will ever happen [in the WWE] because I enjoy it more that way and I don’t want to ruin anything. We are at a crossroads and we have the luxury of time.” – Ronda Rousey to TMZ.
VIDEO | UFC 216's Real Fight of the Night Was Daniel Cormier Versus Audio Cords
Justin Golightly - October 10, 2017
Saturday’s UFC 216 card turned out to be an embarrassment of riches. Lando Vannata and Bobby Green had a crazy, bloody Fight of the Night. Tony Ferguson became the number one lightweight in the world not named Conor McGregor, in an exciting title fight with Kevin Lee. Who can forget Demetrious Johnson inventing new and amazing ways to tap opponents out by blending a suplex and an armbar? However, the best fight on the card may have gone unnoticed. Thanks to this exclusive clip, UFC shows who the real fight of the night was: Daniel Cormier vs Audio Cords. This cord smashed me. 10-8 round the wrong way for me. Lol https://t.co/itnNB66H1l

There are coaches for all aspects of mixed tiatial arts. You have head coaches that bring everything together and others that help on a specific discipline such as wrestling, striking, or jiu-jitsu. Then, for some athletes, they also hire a mental coach to help them through their mental blocks or issues that can hold back an athlete from their full potential. Georges St-Pierre and Vitor Belfort are examples of some of the biggest stars in mixed martial arts that have worked with a mental coach during their careers. Now, with the sport being highlighted by promotional beasts such as Conor McGregor, could fighters use a promotional coach to hype themselves up and build more fan interest?
VIDEOS | 14 Years Ago Today BJ Penn Submitted Takanori Gomi
Justin Golightly - October 10, 2017
Years before Conor McGregor skirted his flame-shooting Lambo into the UFC to capture double gold and jump around for big fights, there was BJ Penn. When the first UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver left the organization, the UFC put on a lightweight tournament to crown a new king of the world at 155-pounds. But after BJ Penn and Caol Uno fought to a draw in the finals, the UFC dissolved the entire division. This is what prompted Penn to search out new challenges, resulting in fighting future PRIDE lightweight champion Takanori Gomi in K-1 back in 2003. Oct10.2003
VIDEO | Fighter barely able to stand on scale from weight cut still allowed to fight in Japan
Russell Ess - October 9, 2017
There was quite a bit of commotion with the UFC 216 weigh-ins leading up to this past weekend’s UFC card as Kevin Lee needed an extra hour to make the interim lightweight title fight weight. However, Lee who struggled to make weight looked amazing in comparison to another fighter who also stepped on the scale to compete over the weekend. Strawweight Daniel Lima fought at the Pancrase 290 event in Japan on Sunday but when he weighed in for his fight against Daichi Kitakata, Lima looked far from being able to compete in a fight the following day.
VIDEO | UFC veteran allegedly assaults woman at party in Brazil
Russell Ess - October 9, 2017
A video has surfaced on the Internet that has a cause for concern which allegedly involves a UFC veteran. Bloody Elbow reported that Rony Jason was caught on video assaulting a woman at a party in Brazil. As you can see in the video posted on the YouTube channel Tudo Sobre MMA, it is hard to see from the angle the clip was recorded but it appears that the man in the video hits the woman as she is down on the ground as a group of people pull him off and hold him back. It is unclear what provoked the situation.
