It was recently announced that former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion and UFC middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi will return to the Bellator cage at Bellator 200 on May 25. On this stacked card, which goes down in London, England, Mousasi will take on Bellator’s reigning middleweight champion Rafael Carvalho. If Mousasi can get passed Carvalho at Bellator 200, he’s hoping it’ll open the door to more big opportunities in the Bellator cage – namely, a showdown with Bellator welterweight champ Rory MacDonald.

Earlier this year, middleweight striker Uriah Hall was expected to take on MMA legend Vitor Belfort in what was supposed to be Belfort’s retirement fight. Regrettably, Hall was hospitalized as the result of a disastrous weight cut, and forced out of the fight. While we’ve known for some time how grim things got for Hall as the result of this weight cut, his coach Eric Nicksick recently provided some additional information, and it all sounds terrifying.

On May 19, the UFC will touch down in Santiago, Chile. This trip to Chile will mark the promotion’s first trip to a South American country other than Brazil, and Argentine welterweight contender Santiago Ponzinibbio is hoping to headline the occasion. If Ponzinibbio does receive headlining honors for the UFC’s debut in Chile, he’s got two names in mind as far as opponents go. The first is two-time UFC title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, who he has called out previously. The second is Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, who he also called out recently.

Having established himself as the most dominant champion in UFC history, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson is now being linked to a showdown with current UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw. Unsurprisingly, this clash of incredibly talented fighters has got the fight world divided, as some people believe the ultra-dominant Johnson will win, while others favor Dillashaw, who is likely to be the bigger, stronger man in the cage.

Until this recent injury preventing his title defense against Frankie Edgar, Max Holloway has held steadfast in the featherweight division. He told us the Blessed Era was coming, he stacked up a 10-fight win streak, then dethroned the previous Jose Aldo king twice. If he can successfully prevent Brian Ortega from taking his belt, then it’s hard to make a case for another contender right now. As dominant as Holloway has been, it’s got him looking higher up for future challenges. He calls out none other than Khabib Nurmagomedov, but quickly warns the division that no one is safe at lightweight. “You know, everybody keep talking about me and a guy too. That Irish man [Conor McGregor]. Everybody want to see us run that back, everybody seems to not be talking about Khabib [Nurmagomedov]. I want Khabib. You know, to be the best you got to beat the best and one of those guys is Khabib. A lot of guys draw Tony [Ferguson]’s name. I remember Tony saying that he wanted to come down to 145-pounds, but they all can stay up there. Stay at 155-pounds, no excuses, let me come up and let me fight. I’m a big boy and we can go up. The new Bellator welterweight champion is none other than the veteran UFC Canadian phenom, the ‘Red King’ Rory MacDonald. He earned his very first world title in his last outing which was a war with former two-time Bellator champion, Douglas Lima. In the bout, MacDonald had Lima’s number in the wrestling department as he continually hit takedowns throughout. But his title win didn’t come without some adversity as Lima landed some devastating leg kicks that caused a massive hematoma on MacDonald’s shin. An injury that the new champion told MMAJunkie he’s still recovering from.

One of the UFC lightweight division’s brightest prospects will have to keep waiting for his next big step up the 155 ladder. Mairbek Taisumov has been dealing with visa issues for a while now but the UFC felt comfortable enough to book him for a fight in America regardless. Well…they should have waited. Taisumov’s opponent for the big April 7th, UFC 223 card in Brooklyn, New York, Evan Dunham announced today on Twitter that Taisumov couldn’t get everything squared away and that the fight will not be happening.
