Gegard Mousasi wants showdown with Rory MacDonald after Bellator 200

Tom Taylor - March 11, 2018

It was recently announced that former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion and UFC middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi will return to the Bellator cage at Bellator 200 on May 25. On this stacked card, which goes down in London, England, Mousasi will take on Bellator’s reigning middleweight champion Rafael Carvalho. If Mousasi can get passed Carvalho at Bellator 200, he’s hoping it’ll open the door to more big opportunities in the Bellator cage – namely, a showdown with Bellator welterweight champ Rory MacDonald.

Coach says Uriah Hall "didn't really have a pulse" after recent weight cut disaster

Tom Taylor - March 11, 2018

Earlier this year, middleweight striker Uriah Hall was expected to take on MMA legend Vitor Belfort in what was supposed to be Belfort’s retirement fight. Regrettably, Hall was hospitalized as the result of a disastrous weight cut, and forced out of the fight. While we’ve known for some time how grim things got for Hall as the result of this weight cut, his coach Eric Nicksick recently provided some additional information, and it all sounds terrifying.

Tom Taylor - March 11, 2018

On May 19, the UFC will touch down in Santiago, Chile. This trip to Chile will mark the promotion’s first trip to a South American country other than Brazil, and Argentine welterweight contender Santiago Ponzinibbio is hoping to headline the occasion. If Ponzinibbio does receive headlining honors for the UFC’s debut in Chile, he’s got two names in mind as far as opponents go. The first is two-time UFC title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, who he has called out previously. The second is Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, who he also called out recently.

Having established himself as the most dominant champion in UFC history, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson is now being linked to a showdown with current UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw. Unsurprisingly, this clash of incredibly talented fighters has got the fight world divided, as some people believe the ultra-dominant Johnson will win, while others favor Dillashaw, who is likely to be the bigger, stronger man in the cage.

He’s been campaigning to right that wrong ever since it happened in November of last year and he may get his wish soon. Garbrandt just announced that he should have a fight booked soon. VIDEO | Khabib Nurmagomedov Calls UFC 223 Bout With Tony Ferguson 'Most Important Fight in UFC'

Justin Golightly - March 10, 2018

Light every candle you have, cross every finger on your hand. We are only four weeks out from UFC 223 and this will be the fourth time we’ve looked forward to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s fight with Tony Ferguson. There is no interim belt. There is only the real belt now, according to Dana White. Nurmagomedov destroyed everyone behind him and waited at White’s car to make what he wanted happen and he has it. Now, we just have to hope and pray that the most important fight right now in the UFC goes down when it’s supposed to. “Ranking is very important for UFC, but for me it’s nothing. For me, important only victory. When I go to the cage, I have to always win and I have to show my best performance. This is most important. About ranking, I don’t care […] Only four weeks before fight, tough opponent, real belt on the line. Ten win streak versus nine win streak. UFC never make this fight. 25 years UFC history, they never make fight like this fight. This is high level fight. This is going to be very good for fans, for guy who gonna take this belt, UFC gonna make money. Everyone gonna be happy because this fight very high level fight and this fight most important fight in UFC today.”

If you don’t know Nick Newell, right now is a great time to find out. He’s one of the top prospects outside of the UFC with or without both of their hands. Since 2009, the fighter has racked up 14 wins, a regional title, and 2013 Submission of the Year in Word Series of Fighting. Last night he came out of retirement like a man possessed and neck cranked Sonny Luque at Legacy Fighting Alliance in the first round and put his foot down with a declaration to Dana White: ‘I belong in the UFC.’ “Life is a cold hard place. It will chew you up and spit you out, but if you make it your b-tch, you can do anything. You can either become a victim of circumstances or you can create your own. I’m out here, I’m creating my own circumstances. I’m one of the best fighters in the world and I belong in the UFC. That’s it. That’s final. I gave you 14 reasons why I belong in the UFC. I’m one of the best fighters in the world and I proved it 14 times.” — Nick Newell in his post-fight speech at LFA 35 via MMA Fighting.

BREAKING VIDEO | Max Holloway Wants Khabib Nurmagomedov at Lightweight

Justin Golightly - March 10, 2018

Until this recent injury preventing his title defense against Frankie Edgar, Max Holloway has held steadfast in the featherweight division. He told us the Blessed Era was coming, he stacked up a 10-fight win streak, then dethroned the previous Jose Aldo king twice. If he can successfully prevent Brian Ortega from taking his belt, then it’s hard to make a case for another contender right now. As dominant as Holloway has been, it’s got him looking higher up for future challenges. He calls out none other than Khabib Nurmagomedov, but quickly warns the division that no one is safe at lightweight. “You know, everybody keep talking about me and a guy too. That Irish man [Conor McGregor]. Everybody want to see us run that back, everybody seems to not be talking about Khabib [Nurmagomedov]. I want Khabib. You know, to be the best you got to beat the best and one of those guys is Khabib. A lot of guys draw Tony [Ferguson]’s name. I remember Tony saying that he wanted to come down to 145-pounds, but they all can stay up there. Stay at 155-pounds, no excuses, let me come up and let me fight. I’m a big boy and we can go up. And 170-pounds ain’t so far after that.”

Rory MacDonald Still Recovering, Not Sure Who's Next But Doesn't Think It's A Douglas Lima Rematch

Drake Riggs - March 9, 2018

The new Bellator welterweight champion is none other than the veteran UFC Canadian phenom, the ‘Red King’ Rory MacDonald. He earned his very first world title in his last outing which was a war with former two-time Bellator champion, Douglas Lima. In the bout, MacDonald had Lima’s number in the wrestling department as he continually hit takedowns throughout. But his title win didn’t come without some adversity as Lima landed some devastating leg kicks that caused a massive hematoma on MacDonald’s shin. An injury that the new champion told MMAJunkie he’s still recovering from.
