UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya threw shade at Yoel Romero after their UFC 248 main event, while praising Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Adesanya and Romero met in a highly-anticipated main event for the middleweight belt, but the fight turned out to be anything but. Very few strikes were thrown during the 25-minute affair, but ultimately the judges did find the champion to be the more effective fighter and awarded him a unanimous decision victory to retain his title.

Before-and-after pics tell the story of the damage Joanna Jedrzejczyk took from UFC women’s strawweight Weili Zhang during their instant classic at UFC 248. Jedrzejczyk and Zhang threw everything including the kitchen sink at each other for 25 minutes as they put on one of the best fights in MMA history against each other, with Zhang eventually emerging as the winner by split decision to retain the belt. It was an extremely close fight, but the difference to the judges was likely the visual damage inflicted on Jedrzejczyk, including a massive hematoma on her forehead.

Tonight Israel Adesanya headlined UFC 248 in a blockbuster showdown against Yoel Romero. “The Last Stylebender” set out to defend his title for the first time since claiming it from Robert Whittaker at UFC 243. He achieved a statement victory by knocking-out the former champion in the second round. Tonight he intended on defeating “The Soldier of God” in a similar fashion. Tonight at UFC 248, Joanna Jędrzejczyk aimed to reclaim the promotions strawweight championship against reigning title holder Weili Zhang. The Polish star first tasted UFC championship victory in 2015 when she decimated the divisions inaugural champion Carla Esparza. She won the one-sided bout via TKO in the second round to claim the 115-pound crown. She defended her belt five consecutive times, defeating the likes of Jessica Penne, Jessica Andrade and Karolina Kowalkiewicz. However, her time was up in her sixth title defense, as opponent Rose Namajunas dismantled her with a first round TKO victory at UFC 217. This was the first time Joanna Jędrzejczyk had lost since joining the UFC, but not her last. She lost again to Namajunas by unanimous decision a few months later in their rematch. She also suffered a setback to current flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko by unanimous decision at UFC 231 in 2018. However, in her most recent effort, Joanna reeled off an impressive victory over Michelle Waterson.

As seen in the video below supplied by UFC.com, Alex crossed paths with Donald on his way out of the Octagon. Cerrone was in attendance as a fan and actually having a beer.
