UFC fighter Michael Chandler has praised Dustin Poirier following the latter’s knockout win at UFC 299.

Last Saturday night, Dustin Poirier was able to knock Benoit Saint-Denis out in vicious fashion at UFC 299. He did so in the second round, cementing himself as a man who is still a top contender at lightweight. Of course, many of us already believed that to be true, but turning back such a hungry young lion proves just how savvy the veteran really is.

One man who knows a thing or two about the power of Poirier is Michael Chandler. These two former rivals clashed once upon a time at 155 pounds, with Poirier managing to get the better of the former Bellator star.

In a recent tweet, Chandler couldn’t help but praise ‘The Diamond’ in the wake of his latest triumph.

Chandler praises Poirier

“I’d venture to say it’s the best hook in the mma world as we speak. He does it so well, and I’m not certain, but rumor has it he’s right handed but fights from southpaw which makes his lead hand his most dominant hand. Kudos to the [diamond emoji]. #ufc299”

Both of these individuals have been involved in some truly epic encounters over the years – including against each other. In the future, they’re both hoping to mount one last push for a shot at the UFC lightweight championship.

Given his win over Saint-Denis, we’d imagine Poirier is slightly ahead when it comes to actually earning such an opportunity.
