Daniel Cormier and Lauren Murphy share different stances on Saturday’s coaching controversy

Adam Martin - October 17, 2021

UFC legend Daniel Cormier and current women’s flyweight fighter Lauren Murphy shared different stances on Saturday’s coaching controversy. Aspen Ladd’s coach Jim West came under scrutiny when he was seen yelling at Ladd in-between the rounds in her main event women’s featherweight fight against Norma Dumont. The coaching tactics have under fire and there appear to be different people in the fight game on different viewpoints about what happened.

Lauren Murphy equates Valentina Shevchenko to Michael Jordan after UFC 266 loss

Drake Riggs - October 11, 2021

Lauren Murphy has high praise for Valentina Shevchenko after challenging for the UFC flyweight crown at UFC 266. The former Invicta FC bantamweight champion in Murphy rode her best winning streak since her days as a titleholder heading into UFC 266’s co-main event on Sept. 25. Unfortunately for her, “The Bullet” continued her dominant ways by outperforming “Lucky” en route to a fourth-round TKO victory – her first time being finished.

Lauren Murphy explains why she nearly pulled out of UFC 266 title fight with Valentina Shevchenko

Adam Martin - September 30, 2021

Lauren Murphy explained why she nearly pulled out of her UFC 266 title fight with UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko. Murphy fought Shevchenko in the co-main event of this past Saturday’s UFC 266 PPV card, and she ended up losing the fight via fourth-round TKO. It was not a good performance by Murphy, but she says one of the reasons for that is because she didn’t have her head coach, Alex Cisne, in her corner for the fight. Her coach tested positive for COVID-19 just days before the fight and Murphy was forced to fight Shevchenko without her coach.

What's next for the stars of UFC 266?

Cole Shelton - September 27, 2021

The UFC was back in front of a full capacity crowd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for a stacked UFC 266 card. The card saw Alexander Volkanovski defending his belt against Brian Ortega, Valentina Shevchenko defending her belt against Lauren Murphy, and Nick Diaz returning against Robbie Lawler. The event ended up delivering as Volkanovski edged out Ortega in one of the best fights of the year. Shevchenko, meanwhile, continued her dominance with a fourth-round TKO win over Lauren Murphy and Robbie Lawler exacted his revenge as he TKO’d Nick Diaz. Now, following the event, here’s what I think should be next for the stars of UFC 266.

Cynthia Calvillo confident she has what it takes to beat Valentina Shevchenko, can't say the same about Lauren Murphy

Adam D Martin - July 15, 2021

Cynthia Calvillo is confident she has what it takes to beat the champ Valentina Shevchenko, but she can’t say the same about Lauren Murphy. Calvillo returns to the Octagon at UFC 266 when she takes on former title challenger Jessica Andrade, and on the same card, Shevchenko puts the UFC women’s flyweight title on the line against Murphy. It stands to reason that Calvillo could potentially earn the next title shot against the winner of Shevchenko vs. Murphy if she defeats Andrade. If you ask Calvillo, that is going to be Shevchenko, because she doesn’t see Murphy winning the fight.

Lauren Murphy explains how she can dethrone women's flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko

Adam Martin - July 4, 2021

Lauren Murphy explained how she can dethrone UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko if she gets the next title shot at 125lbs. Murphy is currently the No. 3 ranked contender in the women’s flyweight division and she seems poised to be the next title challenger for the champion Shevchenko. With Murphy coming off of five straight wins, including a decision over Joanne Calderwood at UFC 263 that seemingly earned her the right to fight Shevchenko next, “Lucky” is hoping that the UFC matchmakers do the right thing and reward her long win streak with a title shot.

Lauren Murphy not guaranteed next title shot against Valentina Shevchenko, says Dana White

Adam Martin - June 13, 2021

UFC president Dana White says he is not committed to giving Lauren Murphy a title shot against flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko next. Murphy defeated Joanne Calderwood via split decision on the UFC 263 preliminary card for her fifth win in a row, and she wants to fight for the belt next. Murphy hasn’t fought the champion Shevchenko yet so it would be a fresh fight, and based on her five-fight win streak it’s hard to ignore what she has been doing in the division. But as far as the UFC bossman White is concerned, he isn’t sure what he wants to do yet with Murphy.

Lauren Murphy shares story of dealing with shady manager who stole sponsorship money

Drake Riggs - January 1, 2019

Trust can be hard to come by just in life in general. Unfortunately, that is often times the case in business as well, including sports. Former Invicta FC bantamweight champion and current UFC flyweight contender Lauren Murphy found this out the hard way. Murphy entered the UFC in 2014 as an undefeated 8-0 champion fresh off her title-winning victory over Miriam Nakamoto who she defeated via fourth-round TKO.
