Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate will have to wait a bit longer to make her flyweight debut. She’s now set to face Lauren Murphy at UFC Long Island next month. The 35-year-old has been absent from the cage since her defeat to Ketlen Vieira last November. Following the defeat, Tate decided to move downward in weight. She quickly set her target on current women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.

Miesha Tate and Lauren Murphy will not be sharing the Octagon at UFC 276 after all. During the UFC Vegas 57 broadcast, it was announced that Tate vs. Murphy is off the July 2 PPV card. The bout was scheduled to be on the main card.

Murphy earned her first UFC title shot off of a five-fight win streak, but as Shevchenko showed on Saturday night, there are levels to this game. The champion was able to have her way with Murphy on the feet and on the ground all night long as she dominated her foe until getting the fourth-round finish. Now that the fight is over, Murphy can reflect on the experience, and she took to social media to open up on her “rough night at the office.”

Calvillo returns to the Octagon at UFC 266 when she takes on former title challenger Jessica Andrade, and on the same card, Shevchenko puts the UFC women’s flyweight title on the line against Murphy. It stands to reason that Calvillo could potentially earn the next title shot against the winner of Shevchenko vs. Murphy if she defeats Andrade. If you ask Calvillo, that is going to be Shevchenko, because she doesn’t see Murphy winning the fight.

The world’s leading MMA promotion announced the star-studded card on Tuesday, with Murphy vs. Shevchenko one of three big fights set for the card, along with the main event between UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and challenger Brian Ortega, and a five-round welterweight bout between two legends of the sport in Robbie Lawler and Nick Diaz.

Murphy defeated Joanne Calderwood via split decision on the UFC 263 preliminary card for her fifth win in a row, and she wants to fight for the belt next. Murphy hasn’t fought the champion Shevchenko yet so it would be a fresh fight, and based on her five-fight win streak it’s hard to ignore what she has been doing in the division. But as far as the UFC bossman White is concerned, he isn’t sure what he wants to do yet with Murphy.

UFC women’s flyweight contender Lauren Murphy made her case for getting the next UFC title shot against 125lbs champion Valentina Shevchenko. On Saturday night at UFC 255, Shevchenko once again defended the UFC women’s flyweight title when she defeated challenger Jennifer Maia by unanimous decision. Now we await what is next for the champion and there are several fighters who have a legitimate claim to getting the next title shot at 125lbs against her, including Murphy. The long-time veteran of the women’s divisions believes that she has the strongest resume of the bunch.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto was the first to report that Calvillo vs. Chookagian will take place at UFC 255, which is set for November 21 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card is headlined by a pair of flyweight title fights, with men’s champion Deiveson Figueiredo taking on Alex Perez and women’s champion Valentina Shevchenko against Jennifer Maia

UFC 247 was filled with great moments on Saturday night, but it was also mired in controversy when it came to the judging and the scoring of a handful of fights in Houston. One of the fights that many feel was controversial upon completion was the fight between Andrea Lee and Lauren Murphy. The women’s flyweight bout took place during the ESPN preliminary card on Saturday night and was ultimately scored for Murphy via split decision. Judge Patrick Patlin scored the bout 29-28 for Lee. Chris Lee scored it the same for Murphy, while the third judge, Danny Dealejandro, scored it 30-27 for Murphy.
