Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley went on the offensive against former rival and current middleweight contender Kelvin Gastelum. In a recent appearance on TMZ’s Hollywood Beatdown, Tyron Woodley tore into Gastelum for the comments he made about Woodley during the Dominance MMA media tour in Los Angeles. Woodley was not happy that Gastelum called him out for a rematch, and “The Chosen One” ripped into him on TMZ.

UFC middleweight contender Kelvin Gastelum has opened up about Robert Whittaker’s performance against Israel Adesanya at UFC 243, calling it ‘disappointing’. Gastelum was speaking to MMAFighting during the recent Dominance MMA media day event as he gears up to face Darren Till at UFC 244 in New York City. The Ultimate Fighter 17 winner is coming off the back of his own defeat to The Last Stylebender which took place back at UFC 236 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Earlier this year, Kelvin Gastelum and Israel Adesanya collided with the UFC interim middleweight title on the line. After five, razor-close rounds, Adesanya was named the winner and adorned with a UFC belt. Over the weekend, Adesanya became the undisputed middleweight champion with a second-round stoppage of Robert Whittaker. Gastelum, on the other hand, is gearing up for a UFC 244 scrap with Darren Till.

Darren Till is on a two-fight losing streak and now moving up to middleweight. At UFC 244, the Englishman will take on Kelvin Gastelum who is coming off of an interim title shot. For Till, the stakes are high for this one. With Gastelum being ranked fourth, a win would put him in the top-five of the middleweight division. Yet, the Englishman doesn’t believe a win here should get him a title shot as there are other fighters who deserve it more.

The sticking point isn’t that Till is changing weight class, as many anticipated the move. The issue with many is that Gastelum is an elite 185-pounder while Till is coming off two stoppage losses at welterweight.

According to a report from ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, the former welterweight title challenger will make his middleweight debut opposite a fellow former welterweight in Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244. The card goes down on November 2 inside New York City’s hallowed Madison Square Garden.

The next UFC middleweight title fight on the calendar will go down at UFC 243 on October 6, when undisputed champion Robert Whittaker will attempt to defend his title against interim champion Israel Adesanya. Kelvin Gastelum, one of the top contenders in the division, will be watching this fight very closely. Speaking to South China Morning Post recently, Gastelum weighed in on this middleweight title fight. He has fought Adesanya previously, losing a decision to “Stylebender” in April, and has also been scheduled to fight Whittaker, though the bout unfortunately never happened. Needless to say, he’s got some unique insight into the matchup.

At UFC 234, Robert Whittaker was set to defend his middleweight title against Kelvin Gastelum. It would have been the first time that the Aussie would have defended his belt. However, on the day of the fight, the champ had to pull out of the contest due to health reasons. Fast forward to UFC 236, and in the co-main event, Gastelum was fighting for the interim title against Israel Adesanya. Ultimately, Adesanya beat Gastelum by unanimous decision in what is a front runner for the fight of the year.

The 26-year-old plans to be a lot more focused in this fight, as opposed to his last outing against Al Iaquinta, a unanimous decision loss at UFC on FOX 31, where he felt distracted.

UFC 236, which went down last Saturday in Atlanta, Georgia, featured a bevy of impressive finishes and back-and-forth wars. Unfortunately, that means it also produced some significant medical suspensions. Max Holloway, who lost a decision to Dustin Poirier in an interim lightweight title fight in the main event, has been sidelined indefinitely. So too has Kelvin Gastelum, who came up short to Israel Adesanya in an interim middleweight title fight in the UFC 236 co-main event.

The fight exceeded expectations, as Gastelum and Adesanya proceeded to throw down for the better part of twenty-five minutes, much to the pleasure of fight fans in attendance and watching around the world.

Last night, the UFC returned to Atlanta, Georgia where two interim title fights were on the line. In the main event, featherweight champion, Max Holloway was moving up in weight to take on Dustin Poirier for the interim lightweight title. In the co-main event, Kelvin Gastelum was taking on Israel Adesanya for the interim middleweight title. Ultimately, both fights delivered. Adesanya ended up beating Gastelum by unanimous decision, the same result of the main event where Poirier beat Holloway for a second time and snapped his 13-fight winning streak.
