Everyone wrote Darren Till off when he was pitted against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC Gdansk, but he silenced the critics by finishing the UFC veteran in the first round. Since then though, there had been nothing but confusion amidst the swelling hype. He was slated to fight Stephen Thompson in an Orlando, Florida card that Dana White was switching to England, but that turned out to be a no-go. After that, there were talks of Kamaru Usman which led to nowhere. At this point, Till just wants to put his hands on another top welterweight and isn’t scared of whoever is lucky — or unlucky — enough to be chosen.
“Next year, whether it be March or what in London, I’d like the UFC to just give me the hardest fights in the welterweight division. People say that I’m just striker, but if you see my come up against a grappler, you are going to see my grappling skills. I shrugged off Donald Cerrone’s takedowns off like they were nothing. I’m pretty sure I’m going to do that with another high level grappler. I’m not scared of anyone. Anyone in the top-10 or anyone even outside of the top-10.”
They say I don’t deserve the top name fights, come and prove why I don’t deserve to fight you then…

“There are no dream fights for me, I’m the dream fight now. After another one or two guys fall at my feet, I’m the guy in MMA and that’s the way it’s going to be. All these fighters can hate on me in the UFC, I can see them all tweeting about me sometimes hating on me, but I don’t give a fuck what you say, I just believe in myself. I got a goal, I just want to be a champion and I want to be the greatest fighter of all time so f-cking hate on that you pieces of sh-t. I don’t give a f-ck what they say and if they got something to say, come f-cking fight me because I’m not scared of no one mate, not a f-cking person. If they want to throw down with me, then I will f-cking throw down with anyone.” — Darren Till speaking to the MMA Jim podcast.
There was more than just Stephen Thompson and Kamaru Usman, Darren Till and Gunnar Nelson verbally agreed to a fight over Twitter. Who can forget Till’s heated screaming match with Mike Perry after his victory over Donald Cerrone? There are a ton of match-ups there and one of them will inevitably be squared off with the heavy-handed scouser sooner than later. …At least we hope. We’re just as eager to see Till back in the cage as he is to get back in it.
