UFC heavyweight contender Ciryl Gane has explained why he’d only want to fight Francis Ngannou if a title is on the line. Gane was able to improve on his undefeated record in mixed martial arts this past weekend as he took out Junior dos Santos at UFC 256. With such a big name on his resume, many believe that it’s time for him to take an even bigger step up in competition.

Dos Santos (21-9 MMA) had entered tonight’s event looking to snap a three-fight losing skid. In his most previous effort at UFC 252, ‘JDS’ suffered a second round TKO loss to Jairzinho Rozenstruik. That setback was preceded by stoppage losses to Curtis Blaydes and Francis Ngannou.

This Saturday’s UFC Fight Island 6 card has lost its originally scheduled co-main event: a heavyweight fight between Cyril Gane and Ante Delija. This bout’s cancelation stems from an issue on Delija’s side of things. According to report from La Sueuer, the Croatian heavyweight was plucked from the matchup due to some lingering contract issues with the PFL, where he used to fight. The UFC was unfortunately unable to find a replacement opponent for Gane.
