It’s definitely safe to say to that 2018 has been the year of the champion vs champion fights and as it continues to unwind, we aren’t done getting them. I mean, let’s just look at things a bit closer here. The term “super fight” has absolutely been thrown around far too loosely this year as just because a fight may be champion vs champion, it doesn’t always make it a super fight. But that’s a different debate.

On December 15, Bellator will touch down in Honolulu, Hawaii with Bellator 211. The card will be headlined by a women’s flyweight title fight between Hawaiian champ Ilima-Lei MacFarlane, and co-headlined by a middleweight scrap between former UFC champ Lyoto Machida and former Bellator champ Rafael Carvalho. Amazingly, this stacked card is not all that Bellator is offering the fans in Hawaii, who have been waiting years for major MMA show. The night before this card, in the very same Honolulu venue, the promotion will honor the military with a card titled ‘Salute the Troops,’ which will be free for members of the US armed forces and their friends and families.

Bellator is getting back in the business of tournaments. With Bellator’s Heavyweight Grand Prix in the semi-finals this weekend, the Welterweight Grand Prix just started the opening round. One of the eight fighters in the tournament is UFC veteran and former WSOF champion, Jon Fitch. Fitch will be taking on current Bellator 170-pound champion Rory MacDonald in the opening round of the tournament. If Fitch is to win, not only will he advance but he will become the new Bellator welterweight champion.

Bellator 206 was one of the year’s biggest MMA events regardless of organization. And in its headliner, we saw a fight that we never expected to see. For Bellator, history was on the line as they put two champions against each other for the very first time. Moving up and looking to become the first Bellator dual-division champion was the longtime welterweight elite, Rory “Red King” MacDonald. Standing in his way was the Dutchman, Gegard “The Dreamcatcher” Mousasi.

Recently signed heavyweight fighter Tim Johnson plans on opening some eyes at Bellator 208 when he takes on Cheick Kongo in a feature main card bout. Johnson, 33, signed with the Viacom owned promotion after going a very respectable 4-3 inside the Octagon. He holds notable victories over Shamil Abdurakhimov, Marcin Tybura, and Daniel Omielańczuk while under the UFC’s banner. As impressive as those wins are, Johnson wanted more.

Bellator 206, which went down in San Jose, California on Saturday night, was among the biggest fight cards the company has ever promoted. As it turns out, this card featured some suitably hefty paydays as well. The biggest earner of the night was former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, who pocketed a significant $300,000 for his second-round TKO of his rival Wanderlei Silva. Silva, meanwhile, was the second biggest earner of the night, pocketing $200,000 in defeat.

Last night, Bellator MMA promoted arguably its biggest card yet in Bellator 206. Given the scale of this card, Bellator MMA arranged to have the fights broadcast live on Channel 5 in the United Kingdom in the wee hours of them morning — rather than just airing it on tape delay long after it ended. And British fans were thrilled. Unfortunately, UK MMA fans got a rather strange surprise as they geared up for the card’s massive Gegard Mousasi vs. Rory MacDonald main event. The fights suddenly disappeared, and were replaced by children’s television program.

A heavyweight bout between former mixed martial arts champions and bitter rivals Quinton Jackson and Wanderlei Silva served as the co-headliner of tonight’s Bellator 206 event in San Jose. This will mark the fourth time that “Rampage” and “The Axe Murderer” have squared off during their storied careers.

A welterweight bout between former division champions Andrey Koreshkov and Douglas Lima took place on tonight’s Bellator 206 main card from San Jose. Andrey Koreshkov enters tonight’s contest on a two-fight win streak, his latest being a first-round spinning back-kick knockout victory over Vaso Bakocevic at Bellator 203.

A featherweight bout between Aaron Pico and Leandro Higo took place on the main card of tonight’s Bellator 206 event in San Jose. Aaron Pico (3-1 MMA) enters tonight’s contest on a three-fight win streak, with all three of those victories coming by way of first-round knockout.

According to a report from Rob DeMello of KHON 2, Bellator MMA is headed to Hawaii. The promotion is expected to take over Honolulu’s Neal S. Blaisdell Center on December 15. The card will be headlined by a Bellator women’s flyweight title fight between Hawaiian champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane and former UFC strawweight title challenger Valérie Létourneau. The promotion has yet to officially announce this card, but that official announcement could be coming as early as today.

Under the guidance of Scott Coker, Bellator MMA has picked up another high profile UFC veteran: Erick Silva. Silva, who was once considered a top prospect in the UFC, has signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator, where he is expected to compete in the promotion’s stacked welterweight division. This news was announced by Silva’s manager on social media, and subsequently confirmed by MMA Fighting, who spoke to officials from Bellator.

The Bellator heavyweight division is championless. But now the champ that never lost his crown is back to reclaim what has yet to be given to someone else. Bellator has only had three heavyweight champions in their history and they currently do not have one. This is the whole purpose for their big heavyweight Grand Prix tournament where the winner will get the vacant strap.

Ricky Bandejas (11-1 MMA) picked up a statement win in his promotional debut at last night’s Bellator 204 event scoring a first-round knockout victory over the previously undefeated and highly touted James Gallagher. Bandejas was able to drop Gallagher just minutes in to the opening frame with a crisp right hand. James would scramble back to his feet but would quickly be sent back to the canvas after eating a kick that looked similar to former WWE wrestler Shawn Michaels famous sweet chin music finisher.

After a couple of rematches stole the featherweight division’s spotlight in Bellator, it’s time that we got a new and fresh matchup. Bellator will be heading back to Israel for the third time in the organization’s history as they’ll drop down in Tel Aviv at Menora Mivtachim Arena on November 15th. In the main event will the featherweight champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire defending against the red-hot Emmanuel Sanchez reports MMAJunkie.
