Stipe Miocic defeated feared knockout artist Francis Ngannou in the headliner of last night’s UFC 220 pay-per-view event in Boston.

Miocic was able to execute a brilliant game plan which involved dragging “The Predator” in to deep waters.

With his hard earned unanimous decision victory over Ngannou, Miocic made promotional history by breaking the record for most consecutive UFC heavyweight title defenses with three.

Shortly following last night’s event, UFC President Dana White spoke with Fox Sports where he discussed Ngannou’s first UFC loss and why his performance at UFC 220 could have been hindered by travel.

“Yea he (Stipe) looked good. You know Francis took off the last two weeks of training and went to France. Everybody was curious why he did it and why he was going there. Stipe looked amazing tonight. He fought his fight. He did exactly what he needed to do. He shot in and hit him with some big shots. He was able to avoid all of the big fights early and that is a lot of muscle for (Francis) to carry around for five rounds.”

The brash UFC boss then weighed in on the evening’s co-main event which saw Daniel Cormier successfully defend his light heavyweight title by finishing Volkan Oezdemir.

“He (Daniel) looked phenomenal. He pressed the pace, he was getting in his face and hitting him with big shots early on. He literally just took the fight away from Volkan. He looked incredible. He is one of the greatest to ever do it. I was just talking to him and I don’t see why he couldn’t fight at heavyweight you know? And if he (DC) thinks that Cain (Velasquez) might come back, well then if he won the belt he could give it up. But either way it is a good fight (Miocic vs. Cormier). With all the defenses he (Cormier) has, and Stipe just broke the record for most (heavyweight) defenses. It’s a fun fight. I think that is the fight that people want to see.”
