Conor McGregor’s agent: If WWE has an offer, “we are willing to entertain it”

By Tom Taylor - November 23, 2016

As the undisputed champion of both the featherweight and lightweight divisions, Conor McGregor is one of the very best fighters in the world. He’s also one of the best trash talkers in the game, as he frequently lobotomizes his opponents with his sharp tongue, and throws them off their game before the fight even begins.

Given McGregor’s penchant for trash talk, many fans have wondered how he’d fair in the scripted world of pro wrestling – particularly in the WWE ring, where other combat sports stars like Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have made appearances in the past.

Well, according to McGregor’s agent Audie Attar, the Irishman’s making an appearance in the pro wrestling organization’s ring is not outside the realm of possibility. As is so often the case when it comes to McGregor’s career, it’d all come down to whether or not a move to pro wrestling is good business. Dollars make sense.

“I think it’s all about business, man,” Attar explained during a recent appearance on ESPN’s 5ive Rounds podcast. “If [WWE] is going to come with an offer, we are willing to entertain it. We are here. Have their people call his people – which is me. We can have a conversation.”

McGregor, of course, has had plenty to say about pro wrestlers in the past – and most of it has been negative. Despite this, Attar assured that McGregor respects anyone who dedicates themselves to their craft, and that includes pro wrestlers.

“It’s ultimately like, look, I think Conor had his say via social media at times, but he also is someone that appreciates people that sacrifice and train and are dedicated to their craft, whatever it may be,” he explained.

Once again, however, Attar reiterated that in McGregor-world, cash is king. If a trip to the WWE’s ring makes sense from a fiscal vantage point, the Irishman will consider it.

“Again, I think ultimately Conor will say, ‘Let me talk to my friend Benjamin [Franklin] to see how many of his friends he’s bringing with him before we talk about what the obligations are.'”
