Daniel Rodriguez is excited to finally fight Kevin Holland. Rodriguez and Holland are set to compete at UFC 279 in a 180lbs catchweight bout. The fight is a long time coming as the two were previously booked to collide in 2020. Unfortunately, Holland suffered an injury and the bout never came to fruition. Since then, Holland has been vocal in saying he wants to face ‘D-Rod’ and now he finally gets his wish.

Khamzat Chimaev thinks Kamaru Usman didn’t put enough focus on Leon Edwards and how dangerous he is. Usman was looking to defend his welterweight title in the main event of UFC 278 against Edwards. It served as a rematch after Usman beat Edwards by decision years ago before either of them were top contenders. In the rematch, it looked like the champ would once again win a decision but with less than a minute left Edwards scored a KO win that stunned many and for Chimaev, he believes that loss will change Usman.

Throughout the entire training camp for the Buday fight, his wife was battling encephalitis and unfortunately, she later passed away in May. With his wife in the hospital, Barnett says some days he wouldn’t get any training in, and on fight week, he got a phone call from the hospital that he needed to make a decision which caught him by surprise.

Khamzat Chimaev wants to fight for UFC gold if he beats Nate Diaz, but it might not be at welterweight. After Chimaev beat Gilbert Burns, many thought he could’ve gotten a title shot but the UFC decided to have Kamaru Usman face Leon Edwards. With a minute left in the fight, it appeared that Usman was going to be on his way to winning, however, Edwards landed a clean head kick that knocked the champ out cold.

In the main event of UFC Paris, a crucial heavyweight bout headline the card as Ciryl Gane took on Tai Tuivasa. Gane entered the fight coming off a decision loss to Francis Ngannou for the heavyweight title. Prior to that, he was undefeated including being 7-0 in the UFC with notable wins over Derrick Lewis – to win the interim title – Alexander Volkov, and Jairzinho Rozensturik among others. Tuivasa, meanwhile, was riding a five-fight winning streak and coming off a KO win over Lewis.

Kamaru Usman is responding to the post-fight jabs he received from Conor McGregor following UFC 278. It was just a couple of weeks ago that Kamaru Usman (20-2 MMA) was defeated by Leon Edwards (20-3 MMA) via KO at 4:04 of the 5th round at UFC 278. The welterweight crown went to Edwards.
