Not long after Miocic defended the UFC heavyweight title against Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 252, Jones took to social media to reveal that he wants the chance to fight Miocic next. UFC president Dana White has gone on record by saying that Miocic’s next opponent will be top heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou, but that hasn’t stopped fans and media from thinking Jones could jump the line and get the next title shot instead.

A featherweight firefight between two high-level strikers in Edson Barboza and Sodiq Yusuff has been booked for an upcoming UFC event. As previously reported, Barboza was expected to fight on the October 10 UFC Fight Night event set to take place on Fight Island. His opponent was supposed to be Jeremy Stephens, but according to a report from Combate, Stephens did not feel he had enough time to make the 145lbs limit safely. Instead, the UFC has found a new opponent for Barboza, and he will take on Yusuff in what should be a fantastic fight.

Miocic defeated Daniel Cormier via unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 252 to cement his position as the greatest heavyweight in UFC history. Following the event, UFC president Dana White said the plan is to match Miocic up against Ngannou in a rematch for his next fight. The two previously fought at UFC 220 in January 2018, with Miocic winning the first fight against Ngannou via unanimous decision.
