Ronda Rousey, the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion suffered the second defeat in her professional mixed martial arts career on Friday night against the current champion Amanda Nunes in the main event of UFC 207.
Rousey, who had her dominant reign as the champion returned to the Octagon after taking over a year off since her first professional MMA loss, which was handed to her by Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November of 2015.
Unfortunately for Rousey and her fans, there was not much to cheer for as Nunes stung Rousey with big shots just seconds into the round.
Here, we take a look at Joe Rogan along with Joey Diaz, Eddie Bravo and Brendan Schaub to talk about the fight on the UFC commentator’s Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
“That was the least competitive main event, other than Aldo and McGregor, but that was one dynamic shot to the chin that knocked him out. But, everything about that was off,” Rogan said of Nunes vs. Rousey.
Rogan admitted that before the fight took place, he had no idea how the fight would play out. However, once the fight got underway, Rogan said that it was a tough fight to watch.
“The moment she got hit, she’s not moving her head at all, she’s standing straight up in the air and then I see her legs get close together and that’s when you know someone is really hurt. When someone gets lit up and then they start moving but their legs are too close together, shit is not working right. They kind of know what to do but they’re not, their balance isn’t good, no head movement. She was probably hurt with like the second or third punch that Amanda hit her with.”
The guys talk about how much of a hard hitter Nunes is and that there is absolutely no room for mistakes when competing against her.
“She [Ronda] got him by the biggest power puncher in the 135-pound division by far,” Rogan stated. “There’s not a single girl in that division that punches like Amanda does.”
