Jose Aldo gives weight update ahead of bantamweight debut

Tom Taylor - December 4, 2019

At UFC 245, which will go down on December 14 in Las Vegas, former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will debut in the bantamweight division against a fellow Brazilian in Marlon Moraes. Given that Aldo was always a pretty big featherweight — and that he’s struggled to make the featherweight limit of 145 pounds previously — many fans are worried he’ll struggle to make the 136-pound limit for his bantamweight fight with Moraes. Some fans flatly believe he’ll fail to hit that mark.

Glenn Robinson's daughters implore Colby Covington not to use father's death to promote UFC 245

Natasha Hooper - December 4, 2019

Colby Covington has shown little regard for those he offends with his trash-talking antics, and the family members of the deceased Blackzilians founder Glenn Robinson are no exception. Ahead of his upcoming UFC 245 title fight with Kamaru Usman, Covington took aim at the late Glenn Robinson who unfortunately died in 2018 of a suspected heart attack. Robinson was the man behind Blackzilians, the former training home of Usman.

Justin Gaethje: Conor McGregor vs. Donald Cerrone fight is a 'freak show'

Tom Taylor - December 4, 2019

Justin Gaethje was one of several fighters hoping to welcome former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor back to the Octagon. Unfortunately for him, that lucrative and high-profile opportunity went to Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone — a man Gaethje defeated in August. Unsurprisingly, Gaethje is not particularly pleased with the way things have shaken out. Currently without an opponent, but eager to stake his claim to a title shot, he sounded off on this McGregor vs. Cerrone matchup during an appearance on MMA on SiriusXM.

Natasha Hooper - December 4, 2019

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier recently had a light-hearted argument over former two-division champion Conor McGregor. Training out of American Kickboxing Academy, the two UFC stars have become good friends in recent years. But, that doesn’t stop Cormier from speaking highly of fighters outside of the AKA walls — even those Nurmagomedov doesn’t like.

Cynthia Calvillo rips former teammate Paige VanZant for 'bullcrap' Instagram callout

Tom Taylor - December 3, 2019

Cynthia Calvillo was one of many strawweight and flyweight fighters to be called out in a recent Instagram post from Paige VanZant. She didn’t appreciate this move from her former Team Alpha Male teammate — especially when VanZant deleted her replies. “Normally when it comes to Paige, I feel like I just roll my eyes because it’s like whatever,” Calvillo explained when speaking to MMA Fighting. “I know her, I know who she is, I know what she’s all about. We actually lived together for a little bit. I know her very, very well. For me, I personally do not care. I don’t care what she does. We’re on two different paths when it comes to fighting but she did put me in that list of fighters.

Curtis Blaydes is scheduled to return to the Octagon in the main event of UFC Raleigh, where he’ll take on former UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos. If Blaydes wins this fight, he’ll be well positioned for a title shot opposite the winner of a yet unscheduled heavyweight title fight between reigning champion Stipe Miocic and former champion Daniel Cormier. Given his position in the heavyweight rankings, Blaydes will be watching this Miocic vs. Cormier fight — which will mark the pair’s third meeting — very closely. And when the cage door closes, he expects the reigning champion Miocic to come out on top.
