A light heavyweight bout between Jan Blachowicz and Nikita Krylov served as the co-headliner of today’s UFC Fight Night 136 event in Moscow, Russia.
Blachowicz will enter the contest on a three-fight winning streak, his latest being a thrilling decision victory over Jimi Manuwa in March.
As for Nikita Krylov, the 26-year-old went a perfect 4-0 while fighting outside of the UFC. Krylov earned all four of his victories by way of stoppage, capturing the FNG Light Heavyweight Championship with a knockout of Fabio Maldonado in his most recent effort.
Round one begins and Krylov starts off quickly with a pair of kicks to the body of Jan. Krylov shoots in and scores a takedown. He begins working from full guard. Blachowicz looks for a triangle and then an armbar but neither submission presents itself. Krylov with some big shots from the top now. Jan scrambles and gets back to his feet but Krylov grabs a guillotine choke and drops to the floor. Blachowicz escapes the submission attempt and winds up on top and in side control. Big shots now from Blachowicz who is looking to score his fourth straight win here at UFC Moscow. Nikita scrambles back to half guard but eats two big right hands for his efforts. Shots to the body now from Blachowicz. The horns sounds to end round one.
Round two begins and Krylov quickly fires off a kick to the body. Blachowicz comes forward and lands a body kick of his own. The fighters clinch up and Nikita rolls for a leg lock but Jan escapes and winds up in top position. Blachowicz is in side control now and landing some short elbows. Blachowicz moves to north-south position and then retreats back to side control. Krylov needs to do something here. Jan begins to soften him up with body shots. Blachowicz moves for an arm-triangle choke and sinks it in. Krylov tries to escape but this is tight. It is all over. Wow! What a win for Jan Blachowicz.
