Meanwhile, Nikita Krylov (31-12 MMA) was most previously seen in the Octagon this past January, where he scored a third-round knockout victory over Modestas Bukauskas. That triumph snapped a two-fight losing skid for ‘The Miner’, who had previously suffered back-to-back knockout losses to Dominick Reyes and Bogdan Guskov.

Round one of the UFC 329 featured prelim begins and Krylov comes forward quickly with a combination. Robert Whittaker avoids and circles out. ‘The Miner’ continues to press. Whittaker clips him with a left. Krylov forces the clinch. ‘The Reaper’ gets free and moves off the fence. Nikita Krylov continues to force the action and once again presses Whittaker against the fence. He lands a nice punch, Whittaker slips and falls to the floor. Krylov jumps on him and threatens with a choke. He looks to secure a bulldog choke. Robert Whittaker scrambles and escapes back to range. Two minutes remain in the opening round. Whittaker with a big right hand. Now a looping left and another big right. Another hard shot from the former middleweight champion. Now a big jab. Nikita replies with a low kick. Another nice looping left from Whittaker. ‘The Miner’ forces the clinch. Whittaker breaks free and lands a nice head kick to close out round one.

Round two of the UFC 329 featured prelim begins and Robert Whittaker just misses with a left hook. He throws another that partially lands. Nikita Krylov with a low kick. ‘The Reaper’ doubles up on his jab. ‘The Miner’ is looking to close the distance, but Whittaker is doing a great job of countering. A good jab from the former middleweight champion. Back-to-back big right hands from Whittaker. Now a crisp left jab up the middle. Krylov looks for a high kick, but it is mostly blocked. A good left hook from Whittaker. Now a big 1-2. Nikita Krylov is hurt. 90-seconds remain in the round. Another solid straight right from Robert Whittaker. Another good combination from ‘The Reaper’. The third and final round begins and Robert Whittaker lands a jab to get things started. He lands another that sends Nikita Krylov back a couple of steps. Whittaker with a big right hand. ‘The Miner’ is hurt. Looks like an eye injury. This one is all over!
