UFC bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley shared his theory as to why former champion Henry Cejudo recently retired after UFC 249. Cejudo surprised the MMA community when he vacated the UFC bantamweight title following a TKO win over Dominick Cruz at UFC 249. Cejudo was arguably the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport and so him hanging up his gloves surprised many fans, media, and fighters. O’Malley, however, was not surprised.

UFC bantamweight contender Sean O’Malley explained why his KO over Eddie Wineland was better than Cody Garbrandt’s KO over Raphael Assuncao at UFC 250. O’Malley flatlined Wineland in devastating fashion to kick off the card, and then Garbrandt scored a last-second KO over Assuncao in the co-main event. Both knockouts were celebrated by fans on social media, with many calling them both early “Knockout of the Year” candidates for 2020. Both fighters were also awarded well-deserved $50,000 bonuses for “Performance of the Night” for their knockouts.

UFC president Dana White says that bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley will get a quick turnaround fight after his first-round win at UFC 248. O’Malley hadn’t fought in two years due to a USADA-induced layoff. But he looked amazing at UFC 248, as he didn’t even need a full round to dispatch of Jose Quinonez with a quick first-round knockout. O’Malley was awarded a $50,000 bonus for his excellent performance, and the UFC is going to try and get him back in the cage as soon as possible.

O’Malley himself was the first to recently reveal that he was finally returning to the Octagon at UFC 247, which takes place on February 8 at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. However, MMAjunkie.com is now reporting that O’Malley will instead make his comeback at UFC 248, which is set for March 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
