Unfortunate news has surfaced in regards to UFC heavyweight Stefan Struve’s fight with Ruslan Magomedov at UFC 204. According to MMAJunkie, Magomedov was forced to pull out of the scheduled bout this week after it was revealed that he has a staph infection.

Last month, news broke that long-time UFC welterweight contender Rory MacDonald had abandoned the UFC to join the Bellator roster. It should come as no surprise, then, that his fighter profile has been removed from the UFC website. As it turns out, however, two other fighters have also been released from the UFC in the last few weeks: 29-year-old featherweight Jim Alers (13-3) and  26-year-old lightweight Cody Pfister (12-6).

Earlier this year, UFC President Dana White announced that the UFC had signed 1-0 Mickey Gall, with the intentions of him eventually fighting CM Punk. Unfortunately, Punk’s debut was postponed several times due to injuries. In the meantime, the UFC booked Mickey Gall to fight Mike Jackson. Gall left the MMA world stunned as he picked up a spectacular 1st round finish.

On November 12, the UFC will set up shop in New York City’s Madison Square Garden with UFC 205. This week, this anticipated card’s first match-ups were announced. First, we learned that the card would feature a lightweight bout between Al Iaquinta and Thiago Alves. Days later, we learned that a long-rumored bout between Robbie Lawler and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone had been made official for the event. We’re also hearing whispers that former middleweight champion will fight Yoel Romero or Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza on the card.

On Friday morning, the 22 fighters competing on Saturday night’s UFC 203 took to the scales to weigh in for battle (they’ll take the scales again for the unofficial, ceremonial weigh-ins later today). The card, which will emanate from Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena, will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Cleveland-based champion Stipe Miocic and accomplished veteran Alistair Overeem. Co-headlining honors will go to former champion Fabricio Werdum, and Travis Browne, who stepped up to replace an injured Ben Rothwell on short notice. The rest of the main card, meanwhile, will see WWE star CM Punk make his MMA debut against the young Mickey Gall, while rising bantamweight Jimmie Rivera takes a big step up against Urijah Faber, and Scotland’s Joanne Calderwood takes on Jessica Andrade in a compelling strawweight showdown. The undercard, finally features some of the UFC’s best talent, from veterans, to contenders, to prospects.

In just over 24 hours, the world will tune in as former WWE champion CM Punk makes his highly anticipated MMA debut on the main card of UFC 203 as he fights undefeated Mickey Gall. Ahead of the fight, as more footage has continued to emerge of Punk in training, some of the MMA community believes that the 37 year old Chicago native will be in for a rough time. Despite that, Punk’s head coach, Duke Roufus, has explained that a major key for Punk going into the fight is the fact that he is an enigma, and Mickey Gall doesn’t have any new footage of Punk to study.

Tomorrow night in Cleveland, Ohio, former WWE champion CM Punk will make his highly anticipated UFC debut against the undefeated Mickey Gall. Ahead of the fight, the MMA community seems to be split in regards to their opinion on Punk being given the fight. While some are happy that at 37-years old Punk will get to fulfill his goal of competing in an MMA fight, others believe that with a 0-0 amateur record, Punk has no business competing in the Octagon despite the fact that he has been training full time at Roufusport gym in Milwaukee.

Earlier this year, England’s Michael Bisping shocked the world by flattening Luke Rockhold to win the UFC middleweight crown. From there, logic suggested the Brit would defend his title in a rematch with Rockhold, or against another top-flight middleweight in Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza or Yoel Romero. Instead, the next middleweight title shot was awarded to a 46-year-old Dan Henderson. The aging vet will take on Bisping in Manchester, England, in the main event of UFC 204 this October 8.

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has had his long documented history with Conor McGregor, who took the belt from him at UFC 194. With the two putting in the extra hours of media obligations and hype for their featherweight title fight after Aldo had to initially pull out due to injury, the two finally met in the Octagon at UFC 194.
