Brooks will have his first professional MMA fight in the biggest mixed martial arts promotion in the world at UFC 203 and will take on 2-0 Mickey Gall on the main pay-per-view card.
At the early UFC 203 weigh-ins, both Brooks and Gall made weight and when the two went to face off with one another later for the media and fans, Gall put his hand out to Brooks as he approached him for the face-off. Brooks denied the friendly gesture to which Gall took offense and shared some words with the former professional wrestling superstar.
In regards to where Brooks stands on his technical skills ahead of his MMA debut, the fighter will surely have a lot of people looking to criticize every move he makes in the Octagon on Saturday night.
“Well, I think overall I’m the kind of guy that’s never going to be happy because I’m always striving to be better than I am,” Brooks told Brian Stann in a recent interview. “I think that’s why I love MMA so much. For a first fight, I think I’m definitely where I need to be and I’m satisfied with my skill level and everything.”
Meanwhile, Gall who has finished both of his professional mixed martial arts fights in the first round by rear-naked choke submissions predicts that his fight with Brooks will be similar and will end in the first round.
“I’m going to prepare as if they say he’s the best in the world. I’m going to prepare like he’s the baddest dude around,” Gall said to FOX Sports. “I don’t really think I need to see tape. I’m going to force my game. I’m taking him very seriously. A lot of people are treating him like a joke but I’m going to look like a real (expletive) if I go out there thinking he’s a joke and get myself beat. I won’t let that happen.”
