Saturday night in Cleveland, Ohio, CM Punk will finally make his long awaited UFC debut. Punk, who was signed by the UFC nearly 2 years ago, will be facing undefeated prospect Mickey Gall on the main card of UFC 203.
While Punk and Gall were friendly to one another in the Octagon after Mickey Gall defeated Mike Jackson earlier this year, things have continued to get more and more tense between the pair as we get closer to fight night.
Things quickly heated up on Thursday when Punk mean mugged Gall at the conclusion of the UFC 203 pre-fight press conference. Prior to the fight things reached their boiling point Friday afternoon during the UFC’s ceremonial weigh-ins when Punk refused to shake Gall’s hand. That didn’t sit too well with Gall, who was quick to begin talking trash to the former WWE champ.
Gall, who has remained confident that he will finish Punk when they meet in the Octagon, shot down rumors earlier this week that he had stitches in his eyebrow prior to the fight.
Punk on the other hand has also remained extremely confident that he will win the fight, despite the fact that he doesn’t have any prior competitive MMA experience. Fans were given an inside look at the 37 year old Chicago native’s journey from the time he began training at Roufusport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to his UFC debut through ‘The Evolution of Punk’ which aired on Fox Sports 1.
While fans watching the program expressed concern for Punk, stating that he wasn’t ready to make his UFC debut, his Roufusport teammates have maintained their confidence in Punk going into his UFC debut.
