When Darren Till got announced as the headliner for UFC Liverpool, patient fans finally had a reason to celebrate. Till would finally return after his destruction of tough-as-they-come Donald Cerrone at UFC Gdansk back in October of last year. Unfortunately, we can’t get too stoked though, he still doesn’t have an opponent. On the long list sits Jorge Masvidal, who’d love to fight Till, but he just can’t make it to the Scouser’s backyard that fast. “[Darren] Till. I’d love that fight, man. I think the dude is talented. He’s young, he hungry, he stepped up to the plate when he fought Cowboy [Cerrone]. I got nothing but respect for that dude. His performances before that — again, the kid’s good — but when he had his toughest fight, he came, he showed up, he did what he had to do.”

While it hasn’t been long since Robert Whittaker first defeated Yoel Romero at UFC 213, it seems like forever ago. A lot has went down, but the more things change, the more they stay the same. Whittaker still holds the UFC middleweight title and has been waiting to see the rightful challenger rise to meet him after his injury. It just happens to be Romero, who is expected to be just as if not more dangerous at UFC 225 than their last encounter. “[Yoel] Romero is a hard fight. It was a war the first time. It’s definitely up there as one of my hardest fights to date, one of the hardest fights mentally due to getting injured in the first round and having to get through it all. He’s such a tough competitor, he’s such a good athlete and such a good fighter.”

This bout marked the final obligation on Craig’s current UFC contract, and though his comeback win was truly incredible, he’s worried he won’t be offered a new contract, as he lost his two previous bouts in the Octagon rather decisively.

My coach don’t like Francis at all either. I believe that I’m better than Francis all the way around,” Lewis said in a recent interview with FloCombat. “Striking, grappling, ground game, submission, whatever. I believe I’ve got better conditioning than him. I’m better disciplined. I listen to my coaches. I really believe I could beat this guy.”

Though Werdum was able to give him some interesting looks early on, particularly on mat, Volkov came through with flying colors in the fourth, putting his decorated foe down with a pair of uppercut and a missile-like standing-to-ground strike. In the wake of this impressive knockout win, which stands out as the best of his career, the former Bellator heavyweight champion Volkov feels he’s earned a shot at the UFC heavyweight championship, which will next be contested when champ Stipe Miocic takes on Daniel Cormier at UFC 226 on July 7. Though Miocic and Cormier’s heavyweight title showdown is still a ways away, Volkov sounds content to wait for a shot at the winner – perhaps even this fall when the UFC debuts in Russia.

In the co-main event of last night’s UFC London card, Polish light heavyweight Jan Blachowicz avenged a 2015 decision loss to Jimi Manuwa, capturing a unanimous decision win over his British rival in the card’s Fight of of the Night. Although the UFC has yet to update its official rankings, this win is likely to propel Blachowicz to the uppermost reaches of the light heavyweight top-15. While Blachowicz suggested post-fight that he would happily give Manuwa a tie-breaking rematch, he later added that he’s also interested in a showdown with PRIDE legend and former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
