International fight week is shaping up! Earlier today it was reported by Ariel Helwani that a heavyweight showdown between Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis vs the recent heavyweight title challenger, Francis Ngannou is a done deal.

The UFC’s debut in Boise, Idaho, which is expected to take over the city’s CenturyLink Arena on July 14, is slowly starting to come together. On Friday afternoon, UFC officials announced a trio of bouts for the card, via ESPNBoise.com. Among these newly announced bouts is the Octagon return of former UFC women’s bantamweight title challenger Cat Zingano (9-3), who will take on the streaking Marion Reneau (9-3-1). This bout will mark Cat Zingano’s opportunity to rebound from a trio of losses to Ronda Rousey, Julianna Pena and most recently, Ketlen Vieira. Reneau, meanwhile, will look to build on the momentum of a four-fight unbeaten streak.

Perhaps the biggest fight possible in MMA at present would be a showdown between undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former champion Conor McGregor. Apparently, talks are already under way to make that fight a reality. Speaking at a Q&A at a Russian University this week, Nurmagomedov suggested that there has been some contact between his and McGregor’s teams surrounding a potential fight. That said, he doesn’t plan on waiting around for the Irish star. If negotiations take too long, the lightweight champ seems content to direct his focus elsewhere.

On March 3, in the co-main event of UFC 222, former UFC lightweight champion and longtime featherweight contender Frankie Edgar experienced the first knockout loss of his illustrious career, succumbing to a first-round Brian Ortega uppercut. While fighters typically take a nice, long break after being knocked out, Edgar will do no such thing. Instead, he’ll return to action tomorrow night, when he rematches the hard-hitting Cub Swanson in the co-main event of UFC Atlantic City. Speaking on The TSN MMA Show. this week, Swanson gave his take on whether it might be too soon for Edgar’s comeback. While this thought has apparently crossed his mind, he’s determined to prepare for the best Frankie Edgar yet.

Tomorrow night, on the main card of the UFC’s anticipated stop in Atlantic City, New Jersey, former two-division World Series of Fighting champion David Branch will take on surging middleweight knockout artist Thiago Santos. This bout will serve as Branch’s chance to rebound from a tough loss to former UFC champ Luke Rockhold — a loss he actually feels like he needed. “I was unraveling a little bit,” Branch told MMAJunkie, discussing his mentality around the time of his bout with Rockhold. “Sometimes it’s a little toxic to not lose in that long. That’s a long time. Having that champion mentality, it just let me know that I need to start over again like I did when I was over there [in WSOF]. It’s a process. I was just trying to replace something that was more ego-driven and me being a champion, I was just coming over here and wanted to be a champion again, just like I was the champ. I just forgot about the process.”

Though Alexander Gustafsson’s recent career has been somewhat hindered by unfortunate injuries, it sounds like he’s still far from the end of the road. On Thursday afternoon, the long-time light heavyweight contender and two-time title challenger took to Instagram to announce a lucrative new deal with the UFC. In the caption for this Instagram post, he also took a subtle dig at reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who has assured he’ll be retiring soon.

Earlier this month, Conor McGregor travelled to Brooklyn, New York for UFC 223, and promptly went ballistic. In a frantic search for Khabib Nurmagomedov, who had confronted his training partner Artem Lobov earlier in the week, the Irishman ran amok inside the UFC 223 host venue, ultimately throwing a dolly through the window of a shuttle bus carrying a number of fighters, and injuring two of them.
