Since then, he’s made no secret of the fact that he feels the fight should have gone his way. As it turns out, Vettori’s gripes don’t end with the UFC Glendale judges. He’s also got some lingering beef with Adesanya, and promises to slap the striking specialist next time he sees him.

As the end of this partnership draws closer, the promotion is scrambling to hash out a new arrangement with respect to its broadcast rights. According to a report from Variety this week, ESPN and Fox are in talks to share the UFC broadcasting rights.

Edson Barboza’s December loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov couldn’t have gone a whole lot worse, as he was thoroughly dominated by the Russian for three, lopsided rounds. All the same, the ever-dangerous Barboza feels Nurmagomedov could lose to any number of top-10 lightweights on any given night. “It’s tough to say who is the best,” Barboza told MMAWeekly. “Sometimes the guy who’s the best isn’t the guy who wins that night and he loses. It’s so hard for me to say one guy is the best. I feel like if you see the top five guys in the UFC, you rank the top five guys, all those guys their level is so high.

There are several options on the table for the first title defense of new UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov. One is Dustin Poirier, who says he’s been contacted by Nurmagomedov’s camp to discuss a title fight. Another is Tony Ferguson, who’s been scheduled to fight Nurmagomedov a whopping four times to no avail in the past. And then, of course, there’s former UFC lightweight champ Conor McGregor, who’s beef with Nurmagomedov is currently absolutely sizzling. Whether it serves as Nurmagomedov’s first title defense or not, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier believes a Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor fight will happen in the near future. Given that he’s both a long-time Nurmagomedov training partner and a UFC analyst, Cormier’s confidence in this matchup occurring is certainly interesting.

Earlier this month, MMA superstar Conor McGregor flew to Brooklyn, New York, and ran amok inside the UFC 223 host venue. The Irishman’s rampage reached a violent crescendo when he threw a dolly threw the window a shuttle bus carrying a number of UFC 223 fighters, injuring Ray Borg and Michael Chiesa. In the wake of this event, many notable fighters have chimed in to give their take on the madness. Some, unsurprisingly, scolded McGregor severely. Others, meanwhile, were more understanding of his actions. And then there’s UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, who simply assured he’d never act the way McGregor did, because his wife and his mother would kill him if he did.

The pair will collide at UFC 226, which goes down on July 7 in the MMA epicenter of Las Vegas, Nevada. In November of 2017, long-time UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk succumbed to a first-round knockout dealt by unheralded challenger Rose Namajunas, surrendering her title as a result. Earlier this month, in the co-main event of UFC 223, Jedrzejczyk failed to reclaim that title, giving up a close decision to Namajunas in the pair’s anticipated rematch. While the judges awarded the decision to Namajunas in this rematch, however, Jedrzejczyk has repeatedly stated that she feels the fight should have been scored in her favor. Her main argument to this end is that she technically landed more strikes than her foe.

There are a few special fighters who will go down in MMA history based on their propensity for extreme violence in the cage. Former UFC welterweight champ Robbie Lawler is one. Former World Series of Fight lightweight champ Justin Gaethje is another. Then there’s the so-called “most violent man in MMA” Eddie Alvarez. And of course, there’s former interim welterweight champ Carlos Condit, who came up short against Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira in the co-main event of the UFC’s Saturday night stop in Glendale, Arizona…. Shortly after his loss to Cowboy, which came by way of second-round submission, the ever-violent Condit issued a weighty post-fight statement on Instagram, meditating on the defeat itself, and on his future in the sport.

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has fought Jon Jones twice, and neither fight went the way he planned. In his first fight with Jones, Cormier game up a decision. In his second fight, meanwhile, he was put down by third-round head kick — though this knockout loss was ultimately overturned when Jones failed a drug test.

Riding a nice knockout win over Glover Teixeira, Alexander Gustafsson expected to get the next crack at UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. Regrettably for him, Cormier is headed back up to the heavyweight division, where his career began, to battle reigning heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. Speaking on The JRE MMA Show this week, Gustafsson explained his frustration with Cormier’s temporary departure from the division. He feels the absentee champion has put the division he rules in limbo.

Last weekend, in the co-main event of the UFC’s exciting stop in Glendale, former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit returned to the Octagon opposite short-notice replacement Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira. Though Condit was not without his moments in the fight, he ultimately came up short, succumbing to a second-round submission loss. With this tough setback, the ever-entertaining Condit is now a tough 3-7 in his last 10 fights. Unsurprisingly, this disappointing stretch has influenced many fans and pundits to call for his retirement.

On July 7, in the main event of UFC 226, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will return to the heavyweight division to battle reigning champion Stipe Miocic. If Cormier is successful in this momentous showdown, he’ll become the UFC heavyweight champion, which will of course open the door to more massive opportunities in the division. Of those opportunities, its arguable that none would be bigger than a showdown with former UFC heavyweight champ and current WWE star Brock Lesnar—something UFC President Dana White has recently alluded to.

On Saturday night, in the main event of the UFC’s anticipated stop in Glendale, Arizona, long-time UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier and former World Series of Fighting lightweight champ Justin Gaethje stepped into the cage for one of the most anticipated matchups in recent memory. In the end, this matchup delivered in the way we all hoped, as Poirier and Gaethje bludgeoned each other into unrecognizable piles of black-and-blue flesh, until Poirier put an end to things with a volley of fourth-round punches.
