The UFC Liverpool undercard was wrapped up by a middleweight bout between the long-absent Tom Breese, and Australian judoka Dan Kelly. It was a rough night for the 40-year-old Kelly. Midway through the first round, Breese connected with a rocket-fuelled uppercut that put Kelly on the retreat, clutching his face in pain. A few followup strikes later, and it was all over.

Elias Theodorou, who picked up a nice decision win over Trevor Smith during the prelims of Sunday’s UFC Liverpool card, has recently been moonlighting as a “ring boy” for women’s MMA promotion Invicta Fighting Championship. Essentially, Theodorou’s gig with Invicta sees him fulfill the same role as the “ring girls” of Bellator or the UFC. Shortly after his big win in Liverpool, Theodorou announced that he’ll soon be giving other male fighters a chance to try their hands as ring boys — in a sense.

Yesterday afternoon, Darren Till missed weight for his UFC Liverpool headlining showdown with Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, tipping the scales 3.5 pounds above the welterweight limit of 171 pounds. After a period of much confusion and speculation, we learned that the fight would go ahead as planned, so long as Till weighed in at less than 188 pounds at 1:00pm BST on Sunday. This, of course, meant that he would have to heavily control his rehydration process.

Yet, when the smoke cleared, Rickels was the one succumbing to defeat at the hands of the British doppelganger of Anderson Silva. Coming off an 18-month hiatus, Page opened up a gash over Rickels’ left eye, forcing a verbal submission at 0:43 of the second round.

To make matters worse for the Stockton native is the fact that his accuser is claiming that he was ‘coked up’ while he allegedly choked and assaulted her.

Unfortunately for “Wonderboy”, his UFC Fight Night 130 opponent (Darren Till) could not say the same.

Darren Till (16-0-1 MMA) weighed in at 174.5 pounds earlier today in Liverpool, 3.5 pounds above the welterweight limit of 171-pounds.

Thankfully the UFC was able to convince Till’s opponent, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson (14-2-1 MMA), to continue on with the fight despite the Liverpool natives botched weight cut.

The fight will go ahead as planned, so long as Till does not weigh any more than 188 pounds by 1:00pm BST tomorrow. Till will also surrender 30% of his purse to his foe. Speaking to MMAjunkie after he hit the scales, Till explained why failed to make weight. While he’s making no excuses, and seems quite ashamed, he did divulge that his cut was joggled by a family emergency.

MMAJunkie has confirmed initial reports from Front Row Brian that former Strikeforce welterweight champion and UFC veteran, Nick Diaz has been arrested for alleged domestic violence in Las Vegas. The charges are that of felony domestic battery by strangulation, along with a misdemeanor domestic battery for the alleged incident. Diaz’ bail has been set at $18,000. He will not be able to post bail until after his court hearing tomorrow at 9am PST.

When the UFC made the shocking decision to cut Yair Rodriguez earlier this month, the expectation was that he would find another home quite quickly — potentially with South American MMA powerhouse Combate Americas. Apparently, Combate Americas was initially interested in signing Rodriguez, and quickly offered him a deal that is said to be more lucrative than his last in the UFC. According to MMAMania, however, the promotion has since rescinded its offer.

Stephen Thompson, who holds the number-one spot in the UFC welterweight rankings, is confident that he’ll be too much for his UFC Liverpool opponent, eighth-ranked welterweight Darren Till. “That’s what I’m out there to prove to the fans and everybody around the world,” Thompson told Damon Martin of MMAWeekly. “There are levels to this. I’m going to go out there and I’m going to do work. You’re going to see the level of that No. 1 and No. 8. UFC’s giving him a chance so I know he’s going to be coming prepared. Anybody in the UFC has a chance to knock you out. So I’m not going to take this guy lightly.”

The UFC’s upcoming stop in Boise, Idaho, continues to get better, and better, and better. The latest addition to this shockingly stacked Fight Night card is a bantamweight battle between former WEC bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland, and the streaking Alejandro Perez. Wineland, who once fought for the UFC interim bantamweight championship, last competed in April of 2017, when he gave up a decision to John Dodson. This loss was preceded by back-to-back TKO wins over Takeya Mizugaki and Frankie Saenz. He is currently 23-12-2.
